If he has, I must admit I'd be slightly disappointed - not least because (& I may be wrong) I don't feel like he's had his 'chance' in the side. Think you have hit the nail on the head their, we see some players show they are not up to it time and time again, it feels like a what might of been if it wasn’t for that injury, every time I saw him he looked an exciting player someone who would get you off your seat

Something about Serge Gnabry which reminds me of Thibaud.
His spell at the midlands club was a forgettable one and nobody saw him reaching the heights that he did today. Then manager Tony Pulis suggested that the youngster was not at the level of West Brom. - Scroll.in
Five years ago, Serge Gnabry was substituted after failing to impress West Brom manager Tony Pulis in a League Cup match against Port Vale. -ESPN FC
October 2015 Tony Pulis: "Serge Gnabry is not at the level to play for West Brom."
After his failed loan spell at West Bromwich Albion he moved to Werder Bremen.
Nothing against O'Neil, but i hope Thibaud will turn into a player like Serge come 23-24.
Just in case: he is now a regular starter for Bayern München.

This seems to be purely a character and agent issue. I wouldn't be surprised if hes fallen out with O'Neill and his agent has flatly declined a loan move. In those circumstances an agreement to sell him and rip up his contract (hopefully with him sacrificing any due wages) is the only way to resolve the issue.

What bad attitude? From his social media posts he works hard and is very humble. I'd probably fall out with MON if I had the skill of Verlinden and he plays Mclean and Ince ahead of him. It makes no sense in selling him now. McClean and Ince have no value to us. Verlinden is a huge asset and still very young.

Jut not MON's type of player imo, nothing sinister, way it goes sometimes, nobody has to be at fault.

I don't entirely disagree with you there, but my gut feeling (and the reason for my post) is that its a personality issue rather than a footballing one could be the player or manger or both. Whatever has happened sounds like it's irretrievable and if the agent and/or player refuses a loan then a sale is the only option other than him training with the reserves.

They’ve got a left back called George Cox, I might be totally wrong getting him confused with someone else but have we been linked with him before?

Fortuna Sittard? He is an incredible player though🙄. Don’t doubt he has plenty of talent but how many of those have fallen by the wayside due to lack of application (not saying this is the case but can’t be far off). Look at Ravel Morrison for example, even played for England. Now look, without a club I’m pretty sure.

Fortuna Sittard is well on its way to strengthening the ranks with the Belgian Thibaud Verlinden from Stoke City. www.espn.nl/voetbal/artikel/_/id/8068231/fortuna-sittard-probeert-verlinden-weg-te-halen-bij-stoke-cityFortuna Sittard will almost certainly strengthen itself with the Belgian Thibaud Verlinden. The 21-year-old winger is at a dead end at Stoke City and wants to leave the team, where he signed in 2015, as soon as possible. Verlinden was considered a great talent in the youth academy of Standard Liège and moved to the West Midlands at the age of 16. Stoke City leased it to St. Pauli, Germany, and Bolton Wanderers. He showed himself particularly at Bolton. Verlinden is a fairly agile left winger, who can also play on the right. The Belgian played thirteen games in total for Stoke. At Bolton he scored three goals and three assists in fifteen games.

I don't think Collins at RB has helped but in 160 odd minutes he has done nothing. I can see why he only scored 2 and assisted 1 in 30 odd games and why Schalke are happy to offer a cut price deal.

Definitely something off about this situation, guessing we’ll never know
As fans we’re not part of the loop, promising players with shit attitudes, weird decisions by managers, could be either, could be both
Rumour has it that Hughes let the players control everything which ultimately led to little groups forming and then our downfall

What pains me is that to know he is our first player to go out this transfer window.
But whatever, on the bright side at least there clubs who are keen to take him quick enough.
Best of luck Verlinden. Will watch you play for Sittard.

He definitely has 'something' and that something might just blossom with game time and in which case, will be worth a pretty penny. (Insert quip about how dozy TS is regarding such foresight and transfer detail here ...)

The impression i get is that the player is probably pushing for a move, he's 22 this summer and probably feels like he needs regular game time now. It's a difficult situation, his contract is up in about 18 months and we can't really give him the assurances he needs. I'm surprised he's not been given more opportunities but we don't watch the player train week in week out, I'm quite sure if MON rated him highly enough he wouldn't be leaving. He's done okay in his limited cameos for us and he did pretty well at Bolton prior to his injury, personally though I haven't seen enough in him to be convinced that he'll prove us wrong and go on to better things. We will see, good luck to the kid.
