Has anyone ever successfully done a PPI claim.
Deadline is now 10 days away.
I have tried 2 old mortgages, 1 was before PPI, the other with Abbey National is now being looked at with Santander.

Yeah, was encouraged by my bank to take out a couple consolidation loans (for overdrafts, credit cards etc) around 20 years ago, when I was young and stupid with my money, not to mention the odd loan for a car and stuff.
I filled in the free form on the Money Saving Expert website a few months ago when I was bored at work. As the loans were quite a while ago and I have no record of them at home I was quite sketchy about the details (ie no dates, amounts or addresses) I wasn't expecting much.
A few months and a couple of phone calls later I ended up getting a great payment off them. It's definately worth a go.

In the process at the moment, apparently my Lloyds account has turned something up. Need to make another phone call. Don't think I'll be retiring any time soon though.

Did mine years ago in to total with interest and compo got about £10000 back probably 50% interest and compo that was Lloyd’s. Then they tracked the mrs down and put 3 grand in her bank and told her they owed it her it stayed there two months until I had it all in writing lol as it had just appeared no warning

I love the hilarious ad campaigns by the companies claiming to be able to find if you’re entitled to PPI refund using your postcode, name, phone number and other random information. I’ve tried twice with no return. Just wonder what will happen to unclaimed money that banks hold. I’m very surprised that similar wasn’t done with endowment policies when funds already attached to policies were wiped out by mismanagement about 20 years ago. I had 3 endowment policies that paid out less than 50% of forecasted value, including bonuses accrued, which could not be taken away from policy value but was. Luckily the amount paid just covered the mortgage with 2 of them but one fell short by a few grand.

Funny how the government can bail out the banks, but can't make them pay back what is owed to people. Why should you have to chase it up?

I did it years ago and was refunded several thousand pounds. One tip do it yourself don't use a PPI company who take about 25% for themselves.

MBNA actually notified me that I had been highlighted (along with others,) who may have been mis-sold PPI,they enclosed a generic form from the Financial Ombudsman service in the correspondence which I returned. I think I had one further phone call with an agent to provide a bit more detail and that was that. They made me an offer there and then.No grasping lawyers needed.😉 Granted my experience may be an anomaly.
