A tough game yesterday followed by 3 more to come in the next 10 days.
How does Jones manage the squad to put out a decent side each match whilst not flogging the regulars to death?
For me, he puts out what he considers his strongest team for the Leeds league match, and then organises around that. For PNE I'd go 3 at the back with Cousins to help out in the midfield, something like the Wigan XI, but with maybe one or two additions.
I'd be tempted to start Butland for PNE and Leeds on Saturday and rest him for the cup. I'd start Etebo only in the Leeds league game and maybe, if Badou is here to stay, ease him back over the next week too. Duffy needs more game time and hopefully Powell returns from injury.

Smith Batth Lindsay McClean
Woods Etebo Clucas Ince

Well it’s times like this that should help us - I doubt there are many squads in this league that can match our depth of quality. The more games the merrier !

Yes, with our squad depth these periods during the season should be an advantage to us. We can put two teams out that look solid. We have a number of players who you could argue should be in our 1st team.

Some say we need a settled team, but that will only lead to burn out and possible injuries when games come so thick and fast in this league.
Rotation is why Jones wants 2 for every position. It is to our advantage compared to some other teams and we would be crazy not to keep players as fresh as possible for the long slog to come, as well as to maximise their potential performances and manage any knocks.

We rotate, no one will 'miss out' as such. Every single one of those players you have listed will feature in a Championship match this season.
Edit - Keeper situation obviously might be different but the outfield players, definitely.

Players need to move on from the notion of being dropped, to being rested. I think we will see about 20 players used over the next two weeks of games.

If we lose at Preston though it puts massive pressure on the Leeds game.

Have we any indication or confirmation that Badou is actually back at the club or even training?

Too many changes are the problem. We've seen it for the past three years.
It strikes me as Jones hasn't a clue who is best 11 are and he has too many players all at a similar level.
Let's pick a side and keep it for a number of games, injury aside.

The teams at the top of this league don't make wholesale changes just because there are a lot of games close together
I would drop Baath, Allen, because they haven't been good enough.

Have we any indication or confirmation that Badou is actually back at the club or even training? You might well ask. But answers, there are none forthcoming.

Squad rotation is a bit old fashioned theses days even the top clubs rarely rotate players choosing to play their best xi as often as possible. Players are assessed for their endurance if games come quickly. As for us why go with a weaker team away to PNE? This team needs some consistency particularly in defence not changing every game. Players are surely not knackered 4 games into a season? There is an international break coming up soon and we now have very few players at that level so most can put their feet up.

Internationals - Butland, Collins, Carter Vickers, McClean, Allen, Etebo, Badou, Hogan, Vokes I'd imagine Lindsay must be close to a Scotland call up too. Age group internationals - Edwards, Verlinden, Dunwoody So still a fair few of them to potentially go away for international games.
