I don’t often find myself agreeing with the Spectator...

I was horrified when Lauren Laverne took over Desert Island Disks whilst Kirsty Young was on sick leave, but the thought of her being in the role for another decade is depressing.
She might learn on the job, but it’ll be painful:-

Wow, just wow.
Talk about covering all the bases.
They say 35yr olds listen to DID in bed with a hangover, but I know loads of 60+ people that listen to R1. Should we get Gloria Honeyford in to cater their needs.
That John Cooper Clark interview she did was the worst I’ve heard.
I’ll lay my cards on the table Kerniki were one of the worst Britpop bands of the time & how she hewed a career out of it Is beyond me.

I must admit not listened to it regular for a long time and yet I used to be an avid listener

Not sure if its the Laverne effect or not though - gone right off Radio 4 and mainly 4Extra

Kirsty Young was good though

I'm sure Roy Plummly is spinning in his grave!
