Our MOTM today, I thought. A shocking miss but his overall play and workrate was fantastic.

Exacly as advertised by the Millwall fans. Very willing, surprisingly neat and tidy, never stops running, fans favourite material.........and wildly erratic finisher! Perfect summary of him and what we saw today. There is a reason why he has never scored more than 10 goals at this level and we saw it today. Expect around 10 again this season. The concern for me is that a) For whatever reason last week Jones started with Afobe and Vokes...wtf! why wasn't Gregory started? and b) He looks by some distance our best striker. Maybe Hogan will come good and hit his Brentford form or Vokes turn into the player he was 6 years ago.

Hate to piss on your chips but he scored twelve last season in the league and fourteen in total for Millwall. Agree with everything else though.

Once Gregory went off we performed pitifully.

Lee Gregory is a defender's nightmare. Ran himself into the ground today.

OK I was relying on Wiki...not always a good idea which lists him as 10 in the league. I like him tidy player but not a composed goal scorer but looking at what we have he should be no 1 pick up front. Interesting that the Charlton lad scored from a similar range albeit an easier chance. For me hitting the post isn't unlucky it's poor finishing

You are wrong about poor finishing. He fashioned the chance out on the corner of the box from some great movement and foot work and it was a great effort. Deserved a goal.

The finishing seems pretty much baked into the Gregory pie at this point of his career. So we're going to have to live with it...

That fella now works for Peterborough United as a recruitment 'person' (not sure of the title), after their chairman Darragh McAnthony was impressed with his analysis of Christy Pym after they signed him from Exeter. It'll be interesting if his excellent Twitter analysis translates into an excellent recruitment model at club level. I really am fascinated by modern recruitment techniques, and given Denise Coates' excellence in a similar area, more fascinated at why we aren't at the forefront of it!? Hopefully the movement at that level of Mark Cartwright will see the club seize the initiative of the potential of the situation!
