Certainly no 'cutting edge' on show today, or pace or trickery for that matter. Afobe continues to fail in front of goal, and the midfield were overrun as usual. In addition we were massively exposed in the natural full back positions. I'm a touch concerned.

Gave them way too much ball and ended up our back 4 v them. Too much forced pressure on the left coming from Allens inability to pass it to a stoke man. McClean certainly isn't a starting xi LB but the signs are definitely there, positioning is his weakness which would come with time, but unfortunately the season starts in 2 weeks. Not great, not terrible. The signs were there all right in great big fucking neon lights McClean is not a LB never will be, hopefully Nathan might be able to spot the glaring mistakes he was making all game especially when the pressure came on second half.

Seems we have those fingers on keyboards dying for a mistake.
McClean our best player first half. Second half they changed formation and we just let them come on to us.
We were totally exposed second half and both goals were midfield missing and ball inside
Idiots will single out as we say but as I say were desperate to jump on here. Can't see a comment re second goal. No cover for either full backs but we were playing Leicester. Can understand is our probable starting 11 and Leicester a very good side. Forwards too isolated. Powell was poor and Afobe was ...well he was Afobe but not convinced that Campbell will come in and change that.
If you allow a team like Leicester to come on to you for 45 mins you will lose but we won't be playing that quality every week.

I thought McClean overall played very well today, but he must take his part in Leicester's second as he was ball watching and forgot his man.

Not McLean's fault. I actually thought he was one of our better players today. at least trying to make things happen He is just not a left back and Allen isn't suited for the left side of the diamond - that flank was exposed all game
Vokes and Afobe up front is a big concern - should have given Campbell at least 20 mins
I do hope Jones has not backed himself in to a corner as if this is the starting 11 (minus poor old Ryan) we only have Powell for some flair play
At least Verlinden and Edwards would give us some pace and Campbell some hope he could control a ball with his first touch and hit the target

Jimmy Mac did Ok today but for their second goal he was ball watching and did not pick up his man. That's McClean though, does OK, works hard but loses his man every game. He is not a left wingback, in fact he's not very good anywhere on the pitch full stop.

On Tommy Smith, are those people who have moaned about Edwards "lack of pace" happy now with his replacement?!...

Solid enough, I thought he did okay at the back apart from for their second, he needs to learn to pick up that last man but given its not his usual position I thought it was encouraging if unspectacular.

McClean will never make a decent left back as long as he has a hole in his ar*e. He cannot defend. We absolutely need a REAL left back as a matter of urgency.

In the second half I think Smith ended up with two palyers against him time after time. He had to get closer to the central defence to close the space, but still he had to sprint out wide to pick up a Leicester player as said time after time. This is a very difficult situation as fullback as everyone who has played in that position knows. One of the things NJ has to have a look at after this game. Overall I thought we did quite well.

Jimmy Mac did Ok today but for their second goal he was ball watching and did not pick up his man. Which is the basic thing you would expect of a defender, we sold Pieters for £1.5m and replaced him with a £6m midfielder come winger and a pensioner making ourselves worse than before.

He looked OK put a shift in and looked to get forward but he will never be a full back in a million years.
It’s obvious that we’ve missed out on targets A-C and Jones has given up trying to fill the position and shoehorned him in.
He’d need to be able to defend and offer a threat going forward which he can’t.
We won’t come up against players like today obviously but he will without doubt get targeted every game and will cost us points in the long run rather than gaining points with him in the team.
Poor management thinking he’s the answer for the season

I thought he improved second half not really helped by Clucas tbf been disciplined enough to cover him, the space between on CB's and defenders on both sides was alarming and needs to be addressed in the next week.

Come on now how many time did Pieters do the same thing. I think we were mad getting Pieters but McClean’s only been player there for a few weeks. Give in a break. From what I saw our new right back was more of a concern!
