200-5 and that will be that. Can only see one winner in this test unless the weather plays a massive part. Roy has been moved and he's still not got the technique for test cricket that much is clear, I thought he might have a chance but didn't realise he's incapable of playing a normal forward defensive stroke..... No more rain in the test, we need to learn how to bat and quickly. Batting slowly is probably better.

Near enough 300 behind.
A new ball due in 5 overs.
Just the current pair at the wicket and Butler to go before we are down to the tail.
Two days of decent weather to go.
We are in big trouble!

A wee aside.
The T20 quarter finals are taking place this week.
They are providing a reminder of a couple of mercurial talents not playing in this test who are a league above their counterparts; Moeen Ali and Alex Hales both batted superbly to win their games.
They also remind us of the gulf between the skills needed to be successful in white ball cricket and Ashes tests.

Bairstow, 15 out of his last 37 dismissals have been bowled... that is definitely an issue.

Stokes out, doubt we'll get to lunch now. Time for Buttler to get his act together.

So many similarities between the cricketers and Stoke players. What was said before the start of the test... "England players have a razor sharp focus"?
Same sort of shit spoken by Butland and Co.
Talk is cheap and gets very boring when the same crap is repeated with no visible improvements in the outcomes.
They all must go to the same school of making soundbite comments to try and mask a basic level of competence, application, effort and moral fibre.

Are these England players unable to leave some balls alone? They seem to think, see ball try and hit ball. If the ball ain't going to hit the wicket, leave it alone for fecks sake.

Hardly their fault is it? All our batsmen in this team apart from Burns play for the one day side. They’re just playing their natural game. The blame lies firmly with the selectors. I honestly believe the England lions have a better batting line up than our first team.

Even if you take the freak of Smith out of it they are still better than us I'd say. Not by much but definitely better. A much deeper bowling unit and more disciplined (but fairly useless) batting. At this stage 5-0 looks absolutely nailed on next winter.

At this stage 5-0 looks absolutely nailed on next winter. Both batting line ups are absolute dross. Take Smith out of their line up and I’d go as far as to say their batting is slightly worse than ours. They’ve got the pool and variety of bowlers to give themselves a chance in any country which is something we haven’t got. Our bowlers are still better on traditional English pitches, we just haven’t had them this series for whatever reason. We need to develop Archer and Stone and hope Wood is fit to have any chance of beating them over there. And of course we’d need the selectors to use their brains and not just pick Broad, Anderson and Woakes over there like we normally do.

Overton and Leach just haven’t looked threatening at all after Broad and Archer’s excellent opening spell.
That’s certainly been a difference between the two sides all series. Australia have been able to bring on another quality quick after the openers have had their burst whereas we’ve had Woakes, Stokes and now Overton who have all been disappointing.
