Verlinden surely has to start on the right this weekend, I don't think Ince has been lazy unlike some but he's been totally ineffective going forward.

Dunwoody looking composed again in midfield and not afraid to get stuck in. He's impressed me last few times I've seen him play.

A Derby supporting mate of mine says that Verlinden was really unsettling the Derby defence when he came on and that Derby changed their formation to accommodate his movement.

Id agree he caused them more problems mate(which wasn’t hard to be fair) but for me he was easily muscled out of it on a few occasions as well

Really impressive highlights. Wouldn't fancy playing against Sankoh and Godfrinne. We love a big front two in the youngsters don’t we? There was Tyrese and the other lad, Jordan Greenidge was it? Didn’t he go to Cyprus or something?

N'Goy and Verlinden both dragged off around the 60th minute, saving their energy for the weekend

O’Neill is in attendance this evening watching them. I wonder if he is tempted to really shake things up this weekend or view Friday as a blip and keep faith with his senior players....?

Really hope Verlinden and NGoy get a chance, we've got some good players coming through now Them two, Dunwoody, Mo Sankoh in the lower age group, it looks promising seemingly!

That was really enjoyable tonight.
They move the ball around quite quickly for that level and fire at it each other and manage to control it and move it on nicely. Which I know sounds basic but it’s something lacking in the first team.
Everyone played well. Really impressed with the centre halves linking with the two deep midfielders and how they’d find the full back in tight situations and then it’d reach Jarrett who was picking up nice pockets of space.
It was just good intelligent football. Not being daft with risks, using the ball nicely, in tight spots at a good speed.
First class attitude shown by all of the players who might not necessarily think they should be playing at this level too.

Jordan Greenidge was it? Didn’t he go to Cyprus or something? Wiki:- Career Formerly of Stoke City, in July 2018 Greenidge joined Cypriot First Division side Omonia on a three-year deal.[1] On 24 September 2018, he made his professional debut coming on as a substitute for the final six minutes in place of Cris Montes in a 1-0 loss away to AEK Larnaca.[2] On 17 January 2019, he left Omonia after just one appearance.[3] and two weeks later he joined Spanish Segunda División B side Badajoz.[4]

I got the impression that O'Neill was quite hurt by the no show of alot of players against Derby. Would not surprise me at all if he was experimenting with the N'Goy/Diouf combo as something he may try at home in tight games. We shall see but I am sure he shook the place up post Derby.

Yeah it was good. And with that point I think it especially showed with Edwards, Ngoy, Verlinden and Diouf. They didn’t shirk, hide or mardarse. They got on with it.

Miles better the game being at the stadium. They all should. Definitely think this to, much easier for majority of fans who are able to get to the U23 matches to travel to the Bet365 than it is to go to Leek Towns ground. I get the club are worried about the pitch state after more games being played on it but sure more could be played at the stadium than they currently do.

They look a really good bunch of youngsters to be fair. It was always going to take a while but if certainly feels like the investment in our Academy is beginning to bear fruit....

I'm sure it was said that the young age groups were always going to benefit more from the investment and that when those age groups started to come through we might see some players capable of stepping up. Hopefully we've finally got a manager who knows how to develop them as well.

Some great movement and goals even at u18 level. The 3rd goal i think when the left winger looks up as the Stoke forward stays at the edge of the box and calls the winger plays the perfect pass to feet, i can think of a first team winger who may have blasted it across the box

Judging by them highlights. The passing and movement looks better than the 1st team at times.

I have to say I look forward to some of our youngsters breaking through but don't get carried away by youth team fixtures. I believe we consider Pat Jarrett to be a great prospect playing for the U21s at 17/18. However he came to Mickleover on loan before Christmas, looked great technically and in training but the minute he started a match looked completely lost. After a few appearances John Mcgrath (the manager) decided he just wasn't ready for men's football and sent him back.
