That's probably more to do with the saturation of the market if it was to do with medical/recreational cannabis than the qualities or the perception of the qualities by the general public, very difficult to make money I'd have thought when there's such a strong black market legacy from the days of prohibition. I'm talking more about large scale hemp growing for clothing, building, manufacturing etc than cannabis in this instance, hemp is basically cannabis but with less than 0.1-0.3% THC depending on the jurisdiction it's being grown in, it can't realistically get anyone stoned. Just imagine if you could get stoned all day just by dressing in the morning. Relaxed all day and full use of the office cafeteria. Plus saving the planet. Win win. Welcome aboard π

Smoke from wildfires all the way over in Canada is turning the Sun red in NY. Already seeing more extreme fire weather because of global warming. Home insurers are bailing on California.

I live in the Virginia mountainside and since the wildfires, Iβve barely been able to see the Blue Ridge. We had air quality warnings pop up the other day for the first time that Iβve ever known.

I can't help feeling the genie is out of the bottle and climate change us now in runaway mode. I hope I'm wrong. The UK had its wettest March for 40 years and in some places today it hasn't rained for a month. Meanwhile Spain had one of its driest Marches in a century. edition.cnn.com/2023/05/02/europe/spain-drought-catalonia-heat-wave-climate-intl/index.htmlThe consequences for European agriculture are dire. I can only foresee us going back to my childhood and only able to eat food products that are in season.

Just watched a couple of lectures on global warming (sorry, climate change) and they both mentioned the same thing. When Al Gore left politics 20 yeats ago he had a net worth of $15 million. Pretty impressive for a politician. Maybe he has a rich wife? Today he has a net worth in excess of $300 million. As far as I can tell the only thing he has done in the last 20 years is travel the world telling everyone that the earth is fucked and sea levels will rise 1m by 2050. Yet, he still felt it was safe enough to buy a beach front property for a few million. It seems like he is not too worried about rising sea levels in his own back yard. A lot of people making a lot of money out of fear, backed by governments. Does this sound familiar?

I don't think Al Gore doing stuff means that science is right or wrong... but would it change your mind if he'd bought a house 50 metres above sea level?

Closer to home. 60x more of these events occurred just in June 2023 than the whole of last year. We find out later today just how much hotter June was and the contribution of climate change to that. The biblical plagues of Egypt will be nothing compared with what our children may need to live with if we all don't do something to help. www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-66042272

Though with summer weather like this why fly off to Spain or similar? Just turn our coasts into decent resorts for holiday makers. A lot of the even hotter countries in Africa or the Middle East won't be attracting many tourists if it continues like this.

Report from Sweden πΈπͺ
On a web-tv site called Swebb-tv a host invites different guests and they often discuss the climate. Lars Bern, a doctor in Technology, is frequently invited. He says the ongoing eventual climate changes we see nowadays is absolutely nothing to worry about, and no matter why they happen. Keep in mind, he doesn't deny them. But he says they just follow cyclical patterns, they'll always do. And the reason climate activists exist now and so loudly is because they're part of a global force trying to get power over nations, to erase all borders. This is a VERY popular website.
I've also heard people saying here that there are no such things as forests burning or raging wildfires; them being only started by people themselves who want insurance money. A forest can't burn by itself. Someone must start the fire, they reason.
Greta Thunberg is maybe Sweden's face, but I feel she is very unlike most people here.
I wouldn't say the majority is climate friendly here. Maybe the situation is different in the UK, I don't know. People are still taking their freezers and washing machines by boat and dump them into the sea. My brother have seen loads before he recently moved from there.
Personally, I think we have to take nature's warning signals for what they really are: warning signals! 60.000 new cases of skin cancer in Sweden per year now. An increase by 69%, since just twenty years ago. And I thought 30-40% for the Netherlands and Germany was a misprint. Hardly a coincidence.

Some good points, but some of our fires have been on moorlands owned by conservation groups like the RSPB, they are there protecting rare species and wouldn't want a fire to claim on insurance

Currently stuck in hospital and enduring the absolute shit on daytime TV. Storm Huntley (who I've never heard of) is hosting a phone in on channel 5... You've got some elton John lookalike basically trying to explain it away by saying "British people could do better if they turned off their lights" and some other bell end saying "yeah it exists but JSO tactics of fucking over large events don't work". You've got 88 year old Judith phoning in saying "I used to sit on the steps outside my house in nothing but a cardigan, we've always had hot weather"...
This country is fucked. The climate is fucked. We need to change our entire mindset. It won't happen.

The quite freakish run of several years of cooling La Nina effects in the Pacific now definitely over. Look well on our way to a warming El Nino event next year.
Global temperatures should jump a bit.
Aussie coral reefs better hope for a cloudy year to cool them off.

And the nature is a serious business. On that web tv station, it seems so extreme; either fighting for the climate and globalisation or for nations.
