For a noble cause but, for me, Its lost something. It seemed half the pros were ex chelseas players. The crowd was in a coma. The game ase a spectacle was as predictable a kick about as it was stage managed and Piers Morgan was on the touchline (Ffs) that was enough for me and I found myself you tubing an Angus Young documentary instead. Great cause but perhaps needs a pause.

Would be nice to see more Lee Mack types who are genuine amateurs rather than the Towie and Love Island types who are good enough to play semi pro and aren’t really celebs.

Like it or not Cobs, Love Island and reality stars are far more well known to the masses than people with actual talent these days.

Why has it moved to Stamford Bridge? Maybe because of the Cricket World Cup at Old Trafford?

Maybe because of the Cricket World Cup at Old Trafford? 🎣 I'm not fishing. There was a big World Cup match there yesterday wasn't there? The football and cricket grounds aren't far apart.

There were 26000 at the real OT (cricket) and more at various screens around the area so I doubt GMs finest would welcome a full football stadium aswell - if nothing else because of the traffic chaos.

Not got a clue who these love island people are, but aside from that, I turned it off when I saw Cantona on the toichline. Did they start singing that stupid, inane Cantona song by the way?

for me, they have ruined soccer aid
its been going for a few years ( i think they may have changed the name though) we all knew it was charity and there was a few mentions of the charity stuff, but mostly that didnt get in the way of watching some old ( usually fat) ex stars and some celebs having a laugh ( who doesent remember Borris johnsons super tackle) on the pitch
but now they have ruined it be going way overboard on the "look how sad their lives are, donate £30 NOW"
maybe im just and old miserable git, but come on, cant we have a laugh without all the awkward trying to make us feel sorry and robbing our wallets crap

Fundamentally, it's a charity event that you aren't forced to donate to, so I don't get how it's "robbing".

so you didnt see the half time donate NOW bit( ok maybe rob is the wrong word, pressure may be a better chosen word) , or that fact that you dont have a choice how much you want to donate, you are forced to 10,20 or 30 . it just seems wrong to put that kind of pressure on people.
Dont get me wrong, I get the principle and the idea behind it but the high pressure sell of it makes me perosnally less likely to donate. if they come around with a bucket in the pub or at work or at a match, you through whatever change you have in your pocket in (dont we all do that) and if you are having a good week, maybe a note out of your pocket. If they came around with that bucket and say "£20 please" you would tell them to "F*** off"
And i did say they have changed the name bit, fundamentaly its the same thing, isnt it? celebs and old stars from here V celebs and old stars from there for charity.

That's just for text donations, you can donate a sum of your choosing online or by the phone. It will be a technology thing as to why text donations can only be set amounts.

That Jeremy Lynch looks half decent got skill and can finish he be a good free ha Jezza is a freestyler. Yes, very skilful and talented but there is a reason why he (and his partner Billy Wingrove) dont get beyond semi-pro level!

Watched it about 5 years ago and recognised 2 of the so called celebs, Mike Myers and Woody Harrelson. Bloke from Hollyoaks, bloke who once did a voice in Willo The Wisp or something etc . Reminded me of the Charity match in Porridge.
Either way a good cause and raises money however you look at it. A bit like Geldof at Live Aid , he got off his arse, did so much but got a backlash in some quarters for it from people who could be arsed donating a pound, like him or not. If the money can change some people's awful circumstances then who cares?
