Yep and rightly so. I'll believe it when I see it. The old standing in front of the Boothen holding a shirt etc etc. But I'd be very excited to see him play if the hype around him is half right. Expectation is a massive thing, you can get carried away after reading this forum, just don’t wanna put all my hopes on an 18year old, he’s to him signing and taking us up after scoring 15/20 goals though 🍺 It's the hope that kills you mate.

They can't force us to play him. Actually they can (effectively).
Let's suppose Delap's new contract at City gives him £20k(?) a week.
They say to Stoke: "When he plays, we'll pick up the tab, but if he doesn't, you do."
Or even impose a penalty should he not play a percentage of games.
In the same vein, they might put in a clause to say that if City are unhappy with his progress, they can take him back at Xmas.
Alternatively, maybe Stoke could insert a clause to say they can send him back early should you not be happy with him?
It's all up for negotiation, but City hold the whip hand.

It's usually a gentleman's agreement based on a number of appearances when fit. No financial implications just unlikely the parent club will be so agreeable when trying to loan another of their players in the future.

You've taken that part of my post out of context though. As I went on to say it would be madness for them to insist we played him if he was woefully out of form. At his age it could ruin him. Man City would, you would hope, trust O'Neill and especially his dad to do the right thing by him. I understand they wouldn't want him sitting on the bench week after week but that's unlikely if he's even a fraction of the player he's hyped up to be. I'm not sure 'must play if fit' clauses actually exist. I would say it's like Gary Hackett posted and more likely to be a gentleman's agreement between two grown up coaches.

Even if any of that were true (which I doubt) it’s still not close to “forcing” us to play him is it. Of course it’s possible there could be a clause or two which mean it’s financially disadvantageous to us if he doesn’t play, but that would have to be factored in as a hit we can take in the worst case scenario - or we just say no. And if it isn’t, that’s on us, nobody’s forcing us to do anything.

If it comes down to teams putting their best case forward, wonder how many games we could theoretically see him starting here if he came.
Easy to say 'all of 'em' - but we have got Fletcher, Surridge, a revitalised Brown and Campbell (hopefully back up to speed well before Christmas?)

We could have ten strikers Delap would still be the best one, he'd get lots of football here especially as we are playing two up top Anderlecht is the interesting one, Championship is better standard (watch a game over there folks it's not good) however European matches would appeal to the player and Man City probably

The kid's played no senior football, I think there's a bloody good chance he'd be decent but still.

Anderlecht mentioned again Hmmm Anderlecht would appear favourites from that. You would think by now if he is to go on loan they would know where they would send him?

So Nixon seems to think he's Stoke bound too (if they get Kane though?) If we got to October and could pick any 2 from Fletcher, Delap, Surridge, Campbell and Brown?

I don't think it'll happen, there, I've said it and it's final. I’m thinking the same GF. Possibly in January or until January. With the recent additions to the squad is there room for him, unless someone is on the way out in the position he plays (I’m not sure which position/system he plays in). Within a couple of months it’s quite possible that we’ll have Fletcher, Surridge, Brown and TC firing on all cylinders and via ins for a starting position
