😂 So if we sign a player you don’t agree with, and he turns out to be one of our top performers, it’s irrelevant because you say so? Right you are. If it blocks the development of a better player then yes it is. IF the player coming in doesn’t improve the squad and IF the player they block would have had a better season instead then I agree. Your problem is you’re assuming those if’s will be fact and saying it’s a bad move regardless. You don’t know what will happen, it’s the beauty of football. He might come in and be a star, he might be a disaster. Collins might start the first ten games and be terrible or he might be amazing. It MIGHT be a bad move, yes. Likewise playing Collins might end up being a bad move.

Is a slog of a long season and realistically we need 3 or 4 CBs especially with Shawcross less capable of playing a whole season and a loan one going back. Makes simple sense to be. Batth Pennington Shawcross BMI Collins Souttar Well, we've got 6 as it stands now. So will be very interesting to see what the plan is I can see BMI leaving and one of Collins or Souttar leaving on loan.

If it's a loan then I'm 100% against this, just to confirm I'm siding with Bayern for the first and last time ever.

Be very surprised if Souttar isn't loaned again, Ipswich already rumoured and how nany times did BMI play centre back last half of the season?

And I'd expect Souttar to go on loan. Even then, I'm a little bit perplexed as to what the Collins plan is, because as 4th choice (if that's what he ends up), he ain't going to get all that much football.

Think in Jones' system we need a CB who's comfortable at bringing the ball out, so this signing makes sense. Batth is OK, but if we want to move the ball more fluidly into midfield and into the full-backs, I don't think Shawcross can play. Collins

So mr Bayern you complain that Batth hoofs it you complain Shawcross hoofs it . So Pennington doesn’t and you still complain. You’re priceless .Shawcross has dodgy back. Indi on his way out so let’s rely on two young lads. Yes they will get game time but 46 games is a long slog. Complain away

Collins is class. The club need to back him.

Stoke are clearly setting up to follow the Tony Pulis blueprint for promotion, and we will start the season with 8 centre halves.

He said he wanted 2 per position so 6 makes no sense unless the youngster are off somewhere...

Will he get that behind Batth, Pennington and Shawcross? Time will tell. I'll be interested to see if Pennington vaults over Shawcross in the pecking order. People say he struggled for injury, but he still played 36 games and the second most minutes since 2013. I still think this looks a strange one, but obviously support the manager being given free rein to do as he sees fit. He's been tasked to get us promotion and how he goes about it is his business. But it's obviously going to attract discussion along the way!

It's difficult to see in a bucket of shite but he looked decent to me, along with the young lad who Lambert chucked in (Lankester). Thought he had a good game v us at home.

The only sense this makes is if Collins is going. Otherwise I don't see the point.
As a club we appear to be more willing to develop other clubs's players rather than our own. It's very odd.

Read quite a bit of the Ipswich forum on him last night. It's clear he was far from a disaster, although didn't attract massive plaudits. And what you can really glean from the unfolding catastrophe at Ipswich is hard to really gauge. He didn't seem to do well at Leeds the season before though. Just a bit 'meh' on this one at the moment. Hopefully the defensive midfielder and left-back will inject a bit more belief around the fanbase

He's a very decent centre half IMO. Do we need him? I'd much prefer Collins or Souttar as back up center half's It depends on what is going on in the background doesn't it? Not everything that happens, happens in the order it is supposed to. Come August we might look back and say "yes, we did actually need another centre half" The argument with youngsters being used as back ups is whether they are better off out on loan in their formative years or sat behind an experienced player for the majority of the season waiting for a drop in form or injury? To me you either play them in your own team or you send them out on loan with a guaranteed game clause. As I've said above, I think Souttar will go on loan and Collins might stick around.
