Hello Oatcake! Some of you may be aware already through social media or word of mouth, but I am here introducing a new platform called The YYY-Files: Stoke City stories, told by you. The idea is that The YYY-Files is to become an archive of stories of Stoke fans everywhere. People come and tell us how they became Stoke fans, their most vivid memories of their journey and what being a fan means to them in the current day. The aim is that, in a time where being a Stoke fan is fairly taxing, YYY bring a little lighter entertainment by throwing ourselves back to the good times and sharing why we love this club in the first place. These stories are broadly shared as podcasts (called Files), which are available on the most popular podcasting platforms (SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and more). They can also be broadcasted as blogs for those who are microphone-shy. The podcast File Zero tells you everything you need to know about what it's all about, why it's here and how to get involved: soundcloud.com/theyyyfiles/file-zero-time-to-emergeThere are also currently three fans who have shared their story: There's plenty more to come too with plenty of interesting contributors waiting to be interviewed. However, YYY is after any Stoke fan to come and tell their story. If you're interested to come and tell yours, head to the website at www.theyyyfiles.com to find out how. If the platform is to continue and grow, it needs people to volunteer themselves. You are the show.
If you've got any questions, email theyyyfiles@mail.com or we're on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, theyyyfiles. Links to all of this are also on the website.
Feel free to respond with any feedback or comments you've got. If you like what you see/hear please tell other fans who haven't heard of YYY. This project started from the ground up three weeks ago and is still very much in it's infancy. I'm sure some of you are thinking "jeez, another Stoke podcast"; hopefully you see that this is a little different from what you're used to if you give it a try.
I'll try and check back here as often as I can! Hopefully you enjoy the new content to keep you going through what's going to be an interesting Summer!
Ben, creator of The YYY-Files

I think it's a fantastic idea and to be honest, it's the kind of thing that I think the actual Stoke site and media team could have come up with and it would have been a real engagement with the community. Yeah it's not essential or anything like that but it's something different and something to be proud of.
As it stands though, I imagine your take on it will be 1000x better executed than anything the club might have done.

Why YYY ? If you just called it The YY files it might make more sense. YY is the chromosome pairing for male gender, so if you had a platform entitled YY it could be interpreted that it covered everything with regard to the much vaunted "Stoke DNA".
Not criticizing, just an interpretation. Best of luck with your project.

Well, I'm guessing it's the reason!

Toyed with similar names, but restricted by domains and social media handles available. YY is an interesting angle though! Thanks to those who’ve left kind words! There’s something coming very soon which I think might get a few excited!

Unintentional confusion down to me I'm afraid. staugustine was right in an earlier post. XX chromosome pairing is a female genetic decider. XY is a male designator. Some males can have an extra Y chromosome, as in XYY, but this is rare and can lead to characteristics such as being extra tall. Sometimes it leads to disorders such as Jacobs Syndrome. So in fact my contribution, although perhaps vaguely interesting is largely irrelevant!
Edit. I might now resign!

Just to say I’ve just checked out the YYY Files, after hearing about it on the Wizards of Drivel podcast. It’s fantastic. Somewhere between social history and football. The back catalogue is going to come in handy over these coming months and I’d recommend it to other Stokies. Thanks @yyyfiles.

Ben, creator of The YYY-FilesNice idea, like it. I always love the "how I became a Stokie" threads on here. Ordinary people have interesting stories to tell. edit:- that said, some constructive criticism... take the word "apply" out of the "your file" page. You're supposed to be inviting people to tell their stories, I'm not fucking applying for anything edit2:- just realised this is an old thread
