I’ll bet little Leo isn’t too pleased with the BBC take on this story! Instead of headlining that Germany has at least 7 coal fired power stations, each one of which produces more pollution than Ryan Air’s entire fleet of aircraft, the Beeb sticks the boot in to Ryan Air itself. Now, I’d be the first to allow people to say what a pile of crap Ryan Air is, but isn’t the ‘ real story’ here about German pollution? BBC - Ryanair one of Europe's top polluters

it looks a bit unfair, especially as the pollution survey done in early march for airlines missed Ryanair out but had their rivals easyjet as being the least polluting.

Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve filled the air with questionable pollution.

Rather than the world being utterly devastated that the concept of a top 10 polluters has been unveiled. The real story isn't that an expected large quantity of pollution is still producing a large quantity of pollution. We don't have it making the headlines that fire burns, but when something unexpected on that front happens, say wildfires burning down a forest it makes the news. The context of the matter is what makes it news. Seemingly an air line hasn't made the top 10 before, now one of them has.

An uncrashable autonomous vehicle crashes. Stoke City scores a goal. It should make news that a ‘green country’ such as Germany has a lot of filthy pollution producing power stations, each one of which pollutes far more than an entire airline. That an airline produces pollution isn’t any more of a story than ‘snow is cold’ or ‘politicians can’t be trusted’ but that is what the BBC chose to promote. I found that angle odd.

That table is all about Germany. Shocking statistic for a nation renowned for their efficiency.

I was working near Neurath which is second in the list last week.
The size of it is unbelievable, can see the smoke for miles. I don't know what the air quality is like bit it never felt particularly fresh.
