After a bit of help with this, there seems to be a lot of them about but I don't want to end up with someone dodgy or from the 'travelling' community 😁
I've got a couple of trees to be looked at, there is one where the branches are just about brushing the garage roof so it needs attention. Maybe I'd have it cut down. Also need a couple of fence panels replacing so would be good if whoever did the trees dabbled in fencing.
No idea the price for tree work either but its stuff that needs doing.
I've had one or two flyers through my door, J Price and Sons and also Mr Evans Local Tree Services. Has anyone used them?
Any advice welcome 😁😁😁

I’ve never had need to use one but Id seek a well established firm and not just go for the cheapest option. My dad’s neighbour used some guys ( Irish 🙄) who were called Four Seasons or Four Oaks or something like that. They attempted to drop a 60ft Poplar by making the first cut 4ft from the bottom. Fortunately my dad stopped them and advised them they should reduce it bit by bit from the top and if they carried on it would drop straight through next doors conservatory and possibly damage their roof too. They gave it some thought them packed up and left saying they’d be back in an hour. Of course they never reappeared and left the tree as it was with a huge cut at the bottom.
He ended up paying some professionals from Hanchurch to come out as an emergency and finish the job before the tree fell on its own. Cost him a lot more than he anticipated but at least his and my dad’s houses were intact.
Make sure there’s no preservation order on any tree you cut. Can be very expensive if you make an error !

I'd always assumed that if a tree was on your property, you had the right to do with it what you will (I say that with the view that a tree is a living thing and wouldn't take such decisions lightly) I'm guessing though a reputable company would know about such matters 😎😎

Tree preservation orders can be issued for a variety of reasons and it makes little difference who’s land the tree is on. The relevant authority can issue a TPO on a tree in your garden if it decides its necessary. They have to notify the land owner though so I guess you’d know mate 👍
