The O’Neill of 1998 might’ve done. None of his teams since he left Villa could be described as ‘bright as a button’. The little ROI didn't do too bad in the last World Cup did they ? They didn't qualify.

The one they didn't qualify for? The one they got to the quarters. You dense kunt. That was a European Championship. They won one game out of four, against already-qualified Italy.

O,Neil & Keane could not have been any worse than whats being served up now or before under GR perhaps Keane would have sorted the dressing room out & kicked some arse. But we will never know as that ship has well & truly sailed. What evidence do you have to make this statement?! Are you such a Neanderthal that you think a person such as Keen can bully players into playing? The problems at Stoke cannot be solved in only six or seven games! You only have to see our goal on Saturday to see that Nathan Jones is advancing our offensive play. He is still lumbered with players he doesn't really want because of contracts. So far Jones's signings have seen an improvement and all you need to do is support the team! I would learn to spell properly before you go abusing people made yourself a bit of a cock there sunshine.

Why are people getting so hot under the collar over MON and RK. The OP is wrong in saying Coates Snr didn’t get his way because, as I’ve stated, MON and RK turned the job down and nothing to do with us not wanting them. On the other hand why let the truth get in the way of a good old slanging match between posters.

Literally not one person on this Mb wanted Martin O’Neill as our manager on both occasions we were looking for one Let’s not hold the club responsible for missing out on him eh I was hoping for O'Neil last January but no way did I want him after Rowett left. This thread only further highlights the lack of forward thinking amongst many Stoke fans in favour of short term mediocrity. Jones doesn't stand a chance with these morons. Give him time.

Untrue actually I said I’d take him to much abuse

When it appeared as though we were going to appoint him last January you were fantasising over Sam Allardyce.

"We're stuck with this lot" Absolutely my point. So we needed a quick fix manager to get us back on track... quickly. I don't go with this give him three years horse shit. Football today (high level) is super fast decision making action. He's needs to get a tune out of this group of players. O'Neil seems to be getting one from his distinctly average bunch.

There is no 'quick fix' with this lot. The malaise is too ingrained. He won't get three years but he'll get a transfer window and some backing and then we'll see one way or the other.

Yes perhaps but lookout for the rise of Forest! I just like his intelligence and energy and experience, precisely what we needed. What has that actually yielded at club level since 2010 though? His teams don't seem to have much energy. They're cautious and a bit dull. He's a likeable, intelligent bloke but he's yesterday's news as far as management goes. Cautious and dull is an accurate description. As successful as he was at Celtic they could have won more if Mart had been more enterprising.
