Hate Cardiff. Have done for years and would normally rub my hands at any misfortune they encounter but rivalries are thrown at the window at times like this. Can some religious folk spare a prayer from me? Here's hoping there is some genuine miscommunication going on here and he and all aboard are safe and well.

Gotta hope everything turns out well, but TBH it doesn't look like it will as its been over 12 hours since plane went missing.
Whether Sala is on the flight or not, still looks like some very sad news for the families concerned.

Very worrying is a bit of an understatement.
They've had quite bad weather over in France haven't they?

Terrible news - hopefully it will be incorrect but all signs seem to indicate the plane has disappeared over the sea.
Not looking good particularly in view of the time involved.

I was out fishing last night and witnessed some of the search. If there’s one place you don’t want to go down at night in January it’s the Casquettes.

Shit a brick not again.
Small aircrafts could never trust one.
Hope all is well but not looking good at all is it.

For the less experienced on here. Please explain why Casquettes are paticularly dangerous? Casquettes are big rock formation but it’s the strength of the tides around there, they are quite unique, extremely strong and very dangerous. Even on a flat calm day in summer the sandbanks, tides and subsequent overfalls are incredible. It would make any search really really difficult. Add the sea temp at this time of year...

What Bassmaster said. Search was called off from the Channel Islands at 2.00am last night. Resumed this morning. If you've gone down into the sea around here and survived, you won't last long in the water. Weather pretty shite last night. Sadly it doesn't look good GD

Single engine Piper two on board, so passenger and single pilot it sounds like. Pilot incapacitation? Think the air crash detectives will be poring over this. I've flown in a PA46 out of Sleap, it fairly bumps along at 5000 feet even on a Summer's day.....poor buggers...

Terrible news if he's not found along with the pilot but a difficult circumstance anyway, as even if it's not him it's highly likely there's been a loss of life.

Survival time in these sea temperatures isn’t very long. I believe that the regulations for small aircraft flying across the channel require the plane to carry a life raft. They may not have been able to launch and inflate it of course. With the present full moon the tidal flow in this area is phenomenal . There is a small airport on Alderney but if vizability is poor it could be difficult to find without electronic navigation aids. I hope this all turns out well, but very disturbing.

They have just confirmed on the BBC News Channel that the pilot requested landing permission for (I think) Jersey, just before the plane went off air. So possibly engine problems rather than pilot incapacity???
