Many of us post on here from far flung regions of the world. It kind of intrigues me as to how you all ended up in those locations and what you do for a living.
I married a Texan woman and moved to Dallas. Last year, she got a job in Jacksonville, Florida. I am still looking for suitable employment and it isn't easy at my age.
So how did the rest of you end up where you are and what do you do to earn a living?

Ended up in Calgary after a 3 year stint in Christchurch, NZ. The family enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle of NZ but we wanted to be closer to home. Canada always looked nice and fits the outdoor thing albeit it much colder for most of the year. Came here in 2005 and now work for an oil patch waste management/recycling company looking after their taxes.
Just bought a car from Dallas and looking to make a trip down to Florida this year so the little 'un can see Disney before she's too old to enjoy it.

There's this marvellous device known as the Internet. How did you nearly end up in Sulphur Springs? It's a bit off the beaten track.

Keep your fingers crossed. I hope it works out for you. Remember the old saying, "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could."

am living in eindhoven, netherlands, not so far away as you! i was originally planning to move to munich... which i did for the grand total of 4 days. i found a nice flat to live in, in a town near munich, had great views of the alps in the distance, unfortunantly my live in landlady was a complete nutcase!!! so bad she was that while she was at work i packed everything back into the car an sped off leaving her a little note for when she got home! luckily i have a friend living near innsbruck, austria, so i drove down to her house and stayed for afew days. then started to think where to live, looked for jobs in innsbruck but nothing good available. drove around germany for a month, but again nothing. ended up in holland as afew dutch people on the campsite said theres plenty of jobs. which there was, so found a plcae to live, only took 3 days, got a tax number and then a job! i work for an irish company that deals with all the european microsoft returns, so english is the first language at the warehouse. also met a very sexy lady who is now my girlfriend.... so gonna be staying here for quite awhile ;D i did return to the UK for 3 months, before i got together with my GF. that was a big mistake, its so much better over here, more relaxed, hardly any chavs getting pissed on the streets and causing trouble, crime isnt as bad and the women are fucking gorgeous! ;D

I am a Global Account Manager with a Financial Services Co. 23 yrs UK/19 yrs US. I have dual nationality. My goal is to have a summer house in the UK for retirement but I have no intention of moving back to the UK to work. The only reason I would go back is because health care is so fucked up here.
