"A boring team in a boring league playing boring football for a boring twat of a manager."
I thought we got relegated out of the Premier league?

Pre-season Rowett gave Bojan a chance - and early season he had game time. If he'd made his mind up on day one why didn't he just get rid of him before the season began and get someone else in? Rowett gave Bojan a chance. However - as per every other chance he's been given - he failed to take it. Bojan has the technical ability to play in the Premiership let alone the Championship. However playing at the top level requires more than pure technical ability - he simply hasn't got the physical or mental attributes to make it. The first person to notice was that no hope clogger lover Pep Guardiola. What happened to that particular clown of a manager by the way? It's really sad - but to blame everyone else for Bojan's failings is ridiculous. The manager sends the player on to give him a chance, the player promptly scores and saves the manager's ass at least until the next game. Then the manager promptly drops the player that scored until a few weeks later he tells the player to show his fighting side and plays him deep in midfield. He does quite well for two games but then gets dropped to the bench and then from the bench. Then the manager's assistant gets interviewed on tv and tells the world that the player, who was told to play deep, plays too deep. Is that what you call giving Bojan a chance, CBUFAWKIPWH? As for just getting rid of Bojan there's a slight problem you haven't thought of. Unless Rowett gives Bojan a proper chance prospective buyers will believe what you believe. Then there's another problem. Bojan loves the club and doesn't want to leave...

Rowett might well be seeing something in training that we dont see.
HOWEVER during the game we get to see
- Afobe isolated up front on his own - A complete lack of chances being created - Over-reliance on Tom Ince - Allen running around a lot
Its not rose-tinted Bojan loving spectacles to see that it might be worth a go!!
The same like Mortiz Bauer, this is clearly Mr Rowett trying to show everyone who is boss even it means not using the best players at his disposal.
At the end of the day he cant complain when he gets the sack at the end of the season for not getting us promoted. He refused to use some of the talent available and play the likes of Cuco Martina instead.

Rowett has played less exciting players of late and we've got results and started to move up the league. It's not pretty but it's effective. You really want him to trade that in the vague hope Bojan and Bauer come off? Seriously? If you do you should be running a circus and no where near managing a football team. There's also a big difference between the Bojan and Bauer situation. Bojan is worthy of a place on the bench - he can do things others can't. However I get why Rowett AND EVERY OTHER MANAGER HE'S PLAYED UNDER SINCE HE WAS 18 hasn't trusted him to start on a regular basis. He's a wimp and he hides when things get a bit hairy. Every player in the league knows it - one softner or a loud scary BOO and we're playing with 10 men. Bauer isn't in Bojan's league. He's decent going forward but his positional sense is awful. Also the last time Rowett gave him a chance (against Forest in the League Cup) he was diabolical. In a flat back 4 Martina (and Edwards) are far better players. Bauer isn't even worth a place on the bench at the moment. The thing they do have common is a dewy eyed fanbase with selective memories.

Every player in the league knows it - one softner or a loud scary BOO and we're playing with 10 men. That's a really good analysis - except for one thing. It's purely fiction. Bojan was asked to go deeper into "hairy" areas. He did and he did well. Even Rowett praised him. Then of course this week Sale criticised him for going deeper. Which just shows the quality of our management.

If Bojan leaves and it gets more certain week by week it will be the end of our foray into the market for Spanish players at least until Rowett leaves.Rowett is on record as saying he prefers british/Irish players. I really enjoyed seeing Bojan and Muiniesa in the red and white....a bit of Spanish panache will always excite me more than the McClean type of plodder Rowett feels more comfortable managing

I say watch rather than read the Sentinel version because you can glean as much from his body language as his words. He is directly asked if Bojan will be “out of the door” in January and looks uncomfortable and evasive when says he would expect some players who are not playing to want to move on and that is normal. There are apparently no hidden reasons for this because he said his behaviour has been “exemplary.”. Personally I hate to see an outstandingly talented and accomplished 28 year old player shown the door without being given a fair chance to show what he is still capable of, while we meanwhile, are being bored to death with Rowett’s stagnant sterile football. Bojan is a player who obviously loved playing for Stoke and excelled when he felt the love and support of the fans, and he scored some superb goals for us that other players can only dream about. He even brought his whole family over here from Spain to watch Stoke a few Christmas’s ago, and his father was enthusing about the Ole Ole Ole chant and saying he had never been happier in his football. I can’t imagine many players doing that, especially ones who had previously won Champion’s League and other medals with Barcelona. Why wouldn’t a manager want to just see if he could tap into that spirit again and give him some proper game time, even if he does have McLean and Afobe to fall back on? For me it’s an infuriating waste of an opportunity right under his nose. It isn’t as though the others are all tearing it up. Watching his interviews I find more and more depressing. What an unimaginative and uninspiring man he comes across as in that interview! Or maybe it’s just me? Merry Xmas Gary.

I'd prefer Clucas left wing than either of them In a true 4-3-3 Bojan would probably be the best option of the three on the left but in reality it looks more like 4-5-1 so I agree on that.

Is there a single fan who prefers to watch McClean in the team before Bojan.....if so come out and say so? Can I say I prefer neither on the left wing? I'd rather play Clucas or Etebo in that position. I said it many times that the only position(s) for Bojan is really as an attacking midfielder or at best as our NO 10. Out on the wing his contribution is less than McClean's in my opinion. Not enough pace and not enough defensive contribution as I see it.

I remember the barbed comments that Rowett spouted out, think it was after the Walsall match in preseason. As soon as I heard it I thought- here’s trouble for Bojan. In fairness when he’s come on he hasn’t been a shining light, but that could be down to the way or where he has been played ....

Muniesa came here because of Mark Hughes' Spanish contact. Bojan came because of Muniesa, and everybody else including from other nations came because of Bojan. When quality players from other countries, those who do some sort of "research" - as opposed to the likes of Badou who came because of the lure of the Premiership - before they decide whether or not to join, look at the way Bojan's been treated, they will think twice about going here. That suits our management fine. It may even suit the board fine. They also prefer British only. It will also suit a section of the fanbase fine. But it will deprive most of us the chance to see extraordinary players at the Bet365 and it will deprive all of us of players that can take us back to the next level and make us a top 9 team again. Unless we can find ourselves a Fuller again, though he too was a foreigner.

Unless we can find ourselves a Fuller again, though he too was a foreigner. Nicely put my sentiments exactly. If Rowett by some miracle ever gets us promoted we will be a carbon copy of Burnley with Sean Dyche, that is very British centric in our squad. Of course there will be some who would welcome this and that's their choice. I much preferred Hughes's early approach to recruitment that saw us bring in the likes of Bojan Arnie and Shaq. Hughes I think deserves some credit for persuading these players to join a fairly low profile Prem club. As you say the end of an era....I can't say I am very much excited by the current era or the near future

Pulis was a cunt with dinosaur football tactics. But at least they were successful tactics and he took us to the promised land.
Rowett appears also to be a cunt with dinosaur football tactics. If he doesnt make any success then hes just a horrible football manager to watch.
He signed McClean against the wishes of a large majority of Stoke fans (cuz hes gash and hes a political nightmare). Now he is ostracising 2 of the fans favourites in Bojan and Bauer.
Hes not endearing himself to Stoke fans is he?

The sooner he goes the better, but I doubt very much that he'll be sacked. The Coates have already gone against their own beliefs of not sacking by doing just that two times in 6 months. They haven't expressed any dissatisfaction with GR, and probably recognise that following relegation in our case was a thing that was very hard to turn around, as it's been for other "dinasour" clubs. The board wants stability after major upheaval, and GR, if nothing else, has managed to turn us around and be stable. That's about the only good thing I can say about him. I don't think he himself represents stability. He's been with too many clubs in too short times for that, and I think he'll be looking for another club to come and relieve him of his duties here before too long. Ideally in the summer or before, but realistically he could be here for another 6-18 months. The fact that Peter Coates declared himself satisfied with reaching the play offs without demanding that promotion be achieved suggests that he and other board members are prepared to settle for less.
