Potentially a great appointment, but you just wonder if it's slightly grudging because they wanted a big name. Hamstringing him with Terry rather than letting him bring his own assistant in might not be too clever either. I think Terry is perceived (rightly or wrongly,) as the big name, but somehow tagged on as an afterthought? Though he'll know the dressing room, and may act as a draw for up and coming players at this level, like a less barmy Di Canio potentially. Could be a great dual appointment if they achieve a symbiosis, but with Terry's personality and ego it could turn toxic quickly.

I was thinking more about Boskamp, although I'd send him a love letter! John Terry, shit guy! Oh I thought you meant as in Terry sending one to Smiths missus along the lines of 'leave it 5 minutes and meet me behind the bike sheds for a quick knee trembler'. He's a smooth bastard old Tezzer bit like his old man.

Oh come on it’s by far the biggest job the guy has ever been close to in thirty-odd years as a player or manager. You wouldn’t get one in a thousand people turning down Aston Villa to stay at bloody Brentford. Doing an amazing, steady job and potentially brilliant job at 'Little Brentford '(see bournmouth without the money) improve your CV amazingly or swap it for a basket case BIIIG club that has really no realistic future with a deluded brummie cunt fan base for a few more £££££££. It's not going to end well GD

Whether he'll make a very good number two to a relatively inexperienced manager is another matter. I think not as he'll be too desperate for the no. 1 jersey and will knife him in the back at the first opportunity. We know the level his morals lurk at afterall don't we?

I'm only going off what I heard on Talksport though, but if he has then the John Terry part of the deal certainly looks as though it wasn't Smith's idea and he has been told Terry comes as part of the package.

Mepham and Watkins from Brentford to Villa in January and watch them shoot up the league (if they haven't already done so)

its evident that terry is part of the deal - so that may be why Thierry henry turned it down.
i wouldnt want to work with Terry myself, but he is a winner and commands respect - so i can see him being a very good No 2.

Henry turned it down because he has just been offered the Monaco job. As for Dean Smith, the Brentford fans think he's a really decent bloke and solid man manager but tactically more than a bit suspect, the way Brentford were run possibly flattered him and he might not be all that. I went to see Derby play them at home the other day and they were awful, Sawyers couldn't complete a pass so I'd be wary about thinking they are an amazing side just because they played well against us.

Mate I watched them against Leeds and Sawyers was utter shite. They did to Leeds what we did to Norwich (but we were a bit better at it). Smith may turn out to be a cracking manager but this job will make or break him because he hasn't been tested yet.

Terry does not hold any coaching badges so can't manage anyone at the moment.
The way I read it he's bagged himself the opportunity to take them and learn in a live environment - while Villa get a little bit of stardust in return for attracting players than Smith may struggle to get.
If it all goes well for Villa I don't see Terry being there long. He get's his qualifications and his CV enhanced in a coaching role and will be up for a move in the summer or after the first round of sackings next season.
If it doesn't go well for Villa however - that's when it might be a different story.

Looking at the League, Brentford aren't really very fat in front of us are they?

I hope Dean Smith's wife isn't fit. Has she got a pulse? Let's be honest, John Terry, if he was chocolate he would eat himself, he would also fuck the "crack of dawn" I seriously wouldn't trust him with my 20 year old female cat because she only has one eye.

Villa are a MASSIVE club. Easily, by far in any way, the biggest in the Midlands.
Smithy is also a local lad and a huge Villa fan. He knows better than anyone that what their fans want and have desired for years is a team that play like he gets his team to play. Could be a match made in heaven.
