I'm shocked it's a woman making the accusations. I would have thought his sexual preference was a full length mirror.

Are you a graduate of the same charm school as Donald Trump? Possibly the same charm school as Lakeland Potter Sorry if I have offended anyone. - But taking cheap jibes at a woman's appearance just seems to be a bit of a throwback to the days about 60 years ago when I recall seeing "no pets, no Irish and no Blacks" in boarding house windows.

Has anyone seen the woman? Why would he...that? Are you a graduate of the same charm school as Donald Trump? 👍 Sexual violence rarely has anything to do with desirability, or even sex, but more so about power and cruelty Heard a discussion on Woman's Hour, Radio4, and someone claimed that the alleged victim had gone to a hospital within 24 hours and underwent examination and photographic evidence. The district attorney has acted on this As a celebrity, so far an innocent one, he needs to have a word with himself about exposing himself to such situations. There are women out there who will exploit him but also the opposite is true of course If he is found guilty is it the tip of the iceberg a la Harvey Weinstein? Prisons are full of handsome, charming and wealthy rapists and sexual offenders Dirty macs are no longer the main uniform for perverts, nor is class nor social standing an indicator www.cnn.com/2018/09/30/us/cristiano-ronaldo-rape-allegations-lawsuit/index.html

I'll try to keep up in future.

What on earth possesses any young woman to go back to the hotel bedroom of the likes of Ronaldo or any other footballer or heavyweight champion of the world I'll never understand. I'd like to think they are just naïve although with the profusion of kiss and tell stories over the decades it's hard to believe.
I'm with Starkiller on this one he has some right to anonymity in the same way that women do. Hanging every man out to dry in the hope of catching the next Saville or Weinstein is despicable.

I'll try to keep up in future. I wasn't intending to equate the comment I was objecting to with racism. But the comment about Ronaldo's accuser does seem to be a throw back to the time when casual racism and misogyny were tolerated compared to today when large chunks of society have moved on. I can still remember our family looking forward to the Black and White Minstrel show but I'm sure I'd be as uncomfortable with it today - just as I am uncomfortable with some of the gratuitous comments we (I include me) made about women years ago. If being a feminist means that you think women have had a poor deal in many ways and that they should be treated as equals - then I'll plead guilty as charged.

Did this lady go to a hotel with Ronaldo after meeting him in a club? If this is the case then was she expecting to have a coffee, a game of scrabble and then of to separate rooms for forty winks? As much as Ronaldo is arrogant, self centered and basically a modern day footballer twat, I have to say the last thing he does is sruggle for women so this seems like a girl after headlines and money. If this is the case it undermines all genuine rape victims who never get justice for what has happened to them.

The problem with this scenario is he, like any person, deserves a degree of anonymity as whether he is found innocent or guilty it will dog him for life There are women out there who will exploit such situations and it is not beyond reason to believe a woman, or man for that matter, could do this for financial gain Neither is it beyond reason to suspect a man could be capable of this once or serially I'm with you on the "why would you go back to a man's room at night" question though... . It's not to see his etchings! Unless you're a naïve child!

Can we agree that gratuitous comments about anyone aren't a good idea? Looking back at your post I still think I read it as uncalled for as in gratuitous.... heavy handed and over the top but then again I'm probably not that straight laced. Each to their own, live and let live.

If this is the case it undermines all genuine rape victims who never get justice for what has happened to them. Ah - the old "what did she expect" argument. I agree with you only to the extent that anyone who accompanies someone to their bedroom the first time they meet should certainly realise that they may be taking a risk. But that in no way negates the counter argument that "no means no." And that argument doesn't even just apply to people who have met for the first time. If a spouse or regular partner decides to say no and makes this clear to their partner and is ignored then what follows is rape or sexual assault just as much as it would be on the first date. The law accepts (even if some people do not) that society should by now have moved on from Neanderthal standards. And, yes, I do realise I am probably being very unfair to Neanderthals.

Amazing how often the two wrongs make a right argument gets trotted out on here. The problem is that men rarely get defended in the same way that women do on here or out there in the media. Ronaldo, love him or loathe him, has already been pronounced guilty. My comment was purely to counteract the feminist's point of view being put forward by Lakeland. Paragons of virtue women certainly ain't.

But you are correct, he is entitled to his day in court. The payment he made a few years ago suggests that he is not too keen to have it though. I will await developments with interest.

I hope it's not true because I have a certain respect for Ronaldo as an athlete. He's arguably the greatest footballer of all time, and it would be such a shame for that all to be spoiled by what can only be described as disgusting behaviour (if true, of course).
Jury's out at the moment. She's not the first person to accuse him though. I believe there are two previous accusations. So it could be an interesting few months for Cristiano. He will never be forgiven if it's true though, and rightly so.

It could suggest this or it could suggest that the easiest way out of a difficult situation was to make an economic decision that the best way out was to pay off this lady. It suggests that they had sex it's up to a court of law to prove otherwise unless we're going back to the Neanderthal days of public lynchings or as it is known today as trial by social media.
Try reading the article put up by Amazeballs which makes sense of the rationale behind the payment and his ability to work and travel to the USA.
