Yes but I'm sure it makes us all feel better that the mps have now all got a fully furnished second home in London and it always makes me feel good when I hear that all the Polish people that come here are entitled to claim benefits for their families back home in Poland.
Good old Labour. They're gggrrrreeat

Just heard on the radio that the Lorry drivers are getting a bit brassed off and are talking about blockades, Its down to every motorist in the country to back them to the hilt. This countrys government is bordering on ridiculous with the amout of tax being payed by the ordinary working man. Gordon Brown and his cronies will bring this country to its knees if hes given enough time, He sure knows how to make himself popular.

Theres a lot of things that just get you're back up. The Welsh get free subscriptions when we have to pay, There was a woman on the radio from England who was having to pay for cancer treatment so was having to consider moving to Scotland where it is free. There was a Philippino woman who got 30k in debt sending money back home to look after her family then had her self declared bankrupt to clear the debts. It seems as though every Tom Dick & Harry gets everything for free unless you are a Englishman working for a living and now every household bill is going through the roof. This country is going down the gutter

Fuel duty should be equalised across the EC to give our hauliers a level playing field
However - long term we have to get used to using cars less. Oil demand will rise and supplies are limited. Not to mention the dire effects of vehicle use on the enviroment
And if you are voting for lower fuel duties then you also have to vote for other taxes to rise - which ones?

But we are a poxy little island in the world that won't make any difference. Just another Labour excuse to tax us more.
When China, USSR, USA, India start taxing there fuel I may listen

Tax on fat foods the higher the fat content the higher the price! tax on coffee! tax on tea! I am fed up of tax on beer cigs and petrol. Lets tax the other health hazard products! Also tax on toilet paper, tax on shopping bags, tax on designer clothes. Should I go on there are many things we don't need to buy that can be taxed on!

Why can't he just say the country's fucked, I've pissed all the gold and pension money up the wall, There's less coming in from the smokers since the ban so the fuel duty will have to cover for that fuck up.
Or admit that being a sweaty sock his main aim in life is to fuck up the lives of all you English morons that voted us, Your Scottish masters into power.

I'm not going to be drawn into a party political debate about the frailties of the present government suffice to say that ALL political parties would theselves find the current fuel price escalation extremely difficult to solve.A british government cannot dictate the price of a barrel of oil....that's left to Opec and global demand...etc.
Economically we have done extremely well since this government came to power but I do have the opinion that we are in danger of pricing our hauliers into liquidation if we continue along the path of higher increases in tax on fuel duty.
I personally would like to see a freeze on this indefinately to stay competitive.
The influx of foreign workers is something that unfortunately all European countries have signed up to and therefore is not something any British political party can shy away from.
The state of the British economy is still extremely healthy compared to our European neighbours and our taxation system needs to be higher to accomodate for the free health care we all benefit from.It is something that those healthy individuals under 40 perhaps don't appreciate fully at times. There is a global recession looming ...and not one organised by Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling.
I don't mind a good political debate, but lets get things straight before we go down the route of biased pro-political argument.
Cameron might be ahead in the polls at the moment...but if he was Prime Minister do you honestly think he would be able to solve the current crisis...
The answer is No.

If you want to take issue on a particular point that is fundamentally wrong then I'm all ears.>?

I don't think many of the posters on this thread were around during the eighties and early nineties when the country was run into bankruptcy. I don't like the current government for their political correctness and something for nothing policies but i certainly wouldn't ever want to go back to how it was ??? I don't see any options and for this the UK is fucked

Mumf,
'Economically we have done extremely well since this government came to power '.
You keep spouting this shite which shows you really haven't got a clue.
We were doing very nicely when this government came to power in 1997. The economy had been performing well for 5 years - something Blair\Brown etc never like to admit because they want thick Labour voting fuckers to think that Gordon and co magically created this marvellous economy themselves.
What we're seeing now is the result of typical 'Old' Labour. They have wanked the tax payers and economy dry and are now felching about for any tax income they can find in order to pay for the countless thousands of useless public workers they've employed. Our big fat public infrastructure needs a fucking good clear out and guess what - Labour won't do it so it'll be up to the Tories yet again.
So, to sum it up for thick Labour voters everywhere, the Tories created a vibrant economy which Labour has bled dry to create its new 'nationalised' state and is now close to being on its knees.

Petrol is still cheaper in the UK than in Belgium / Northern France. I was there last month and it was 1.50 euro per litre. With the shit exchange rate that was about £1.30 a litre.
Actually came back in to Dover running on fumes so I could fill up on the £1.11 a litre fuel at BP
Diesel on the other hand was cheaper. Can't remember the exact price mind...

Well ten years of uninterupted growth in living standards won't register through some thick shells
Never mind that we live in one of the richest countries on the planet and sod the fate of our granchildren
Sadly some here who can ill afford it will suffer in this downturn but if there is a silver lining, then its that it will give others an overdue dose of reality
