Hope this is true! www.hln.be/sport/voetbal/ft-buitenland-thibaud-verlinden-maakt-vandaag-zijn-debuut-bij-stoke-city~a9e2517d/?Thibaud Verlinden makes his debut for Stoke City today
Thibaud Verlinden makes his debut at Stoke City in the English Championship today. The son of ex-keeper Dany Verlinden is in the team against 'The Potters' against Reading. Verlinden junior had to wait a long time for his debut with Stoke. Injuries threw a spanner in the works for the 19-year-old midfielder. Stoke is not doing well in the English second class after the Premier League relegation last season. With 46 points, the team is in a disappointing 17th place. A win at Reading must be there for Verlinden and co. They are only 20th on 24 teams with 36 points from 37 games.

Well up for it today if we've got something a bit different like this. I was hoping we'd chuck him in today. We're not learning nything by looking at Ince and McClean, espcially if we're changing formation next season. Maybe Verlinden on the right and Ince on the left?

Not expecting too much from him if he does start today, but great to see he’s getting a chance to learn and be a part of the shake-up. Nice one Thibaud!*
*If the reports are true, obviously.

Ince has done nothing to justify his place, mcclean even less. Verlinden deserves a chance this season. So does Sorenson ahead of williams & woods.
Hopefully next season, if we cannot sell them, woods, ince, mcclean will be squad players only

Still haven't given up on Woods and Ince totally, but if we're going to play the diamond, we're still none the wiser if Ince (or Verlinden for the matter!) can be the answer. We probably know McClean is finished though, so nothing to be gained playing him at the expense of somone like Verlinden surely? Really hope Verlinden grabs his chance if the story is true. It's about time we had a feelgood story this season

Apparently it's true that he's playing, a lad I know spends most of his time down the training ground ( a lot ) and says the way the team set up in training yesterday showed that verlinden was in the 11. Vokes too.

Just speculating that he clearly doesn't have a problem with him as a pro, and likes his attitude. And is happy for him to do a job in this kind of holding formation he's been playing for the last month where he's an obvious fit given the lack of any/many other options... But can you see a role for him in a diamond that's clearly going to be the Jones masterplan going forward? Ince? maybe Verlinden? possibly But McClean?

Good news.
But difficult game to play.
Gale force winds and torrential rain (yes I know, Klopp excuses here) will make it difficult.

He can play just about anywhere - or nowhere especially. His skill levels are so poor that he doesn't specialise in anything. He's just been chucked out on the left wing as a last resort, and somehow got stuck there. Well I would have been ecstatic if he really was finished here, but he seems to be the SJW-clone of the current team/manager's.

As much as I would love Verlinden to play and shine, is it really wise when gales are forecast and the match will be a farce with such dreadful conditions?

Are gusts of 30mph not bad enough to ruin a game and turn it into a mockery?!!!

BBC app says 40. But more inclined to go with that. Might not be a great spectacle mind.

Are gusts of 30mph not bad enough to ruin a game and turn it into a mockery?!!! Obviously not ideal! But wouldn't think similarish conditions are that rare at our stadium for 3/4 of the season. He's a grown man, hopefully he'll be able to deal with it as well as anyone else. Wouldn't think Messi would struggle particularly and he's 5'7" and 10 stone!
