I was in Grace Bay last week. It's coming along nicely, and puts Seven Stars to shame.Plenty room for parties. The Dominican 'ladies' at A.C. Bar say hola! I was offered a job in Turks before moving back to Bermuda from Anguilla 6 years ago. I do worry when the word 'ladies' is in quotes......... Bloody ex crapaud GD

Why have they decided to stop the fanzine? Is it because it's too much hassle for little profit these days ? I’m just getting old fella. It gets harder each year to keep burning the candle at both ends. And it’s time to accept the reality of the new age and the online world. Still proud of the 31 years and 654 (655 if you ever got our charity special) issues we’ll have completed by next August and happy to sign off at that point. Fair enough mate. Maybe I'll resurrect the fanzine I did to rival the Oatcake called 'come back bill asprey' way back in 1988. You even reviewed it in one of your issues :-)

There should be a mass unveiling of Hudsongod In a storm of red confetti. IanRb and his barber should also make an appearance.

To paraphrase a film I think you like; "You built it, they came."

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that you probably dragged this club through its darkest times by producing that fanzine. We were at an absolute low ebb, beleaguered and humbled. It would have been easy for a few thousand more fans to sack it all off, like so many had done by that stage. The Oatcake gave Stoke fans a satirical outlet for the frustrations and disappointments of the Stokie Condition. The club might have gone under if it hadn't been for you folks making sense of it all. But then I am drinking gin, so I might be more melodramatic than is strictly necessary right now....

The one thing I can say about the fanzine in print is that there isn't a single negative comment I could make about it. Think about that. How many things in life can you say that about? And then along came this board and I've made some of the best friends in my life using it. The Oatcake has become an institution and is as synonymous with supporting Stoke as are the red and white stripes. I feel sorry for my lad when I pop my clogs. I've got two massive boxes upstairs in my 'office' filled with the fanzines, and they weigh a ton. I've already passed on 'With Chayze' to Tone, along with me dad's war medals. It's a priceless family heirloom. I'll leave a proper eulogy until Smudge and young David stop printing. OS. Jezza and GD sitting on a Caicas wall.

Given this is the last season and I believe the intention is the final oatcake will be produced the first home game of next season (I think) are there any plans for a final swan song event or are you intending to go quietly into the night ? it's been a part of so many stokies lives over many years it would be quite cool to do something to celebrate its demise GD crying shame. Always part of my match day routine down Stoke, the oatcake. Without it the game will never be quite the same without the oatcake sticking out my back pocket. Be loyal, be proud, be Stoke
