Pilchard eyes is a Turk, end off. He has become a boring footballer I have to say. He seemed to have become very deliberate in his play, slowing us down. Kadheira is the same, a liability rather than a positive... That said, Germany’s biggest issue in the WM18 was that we did try to play the same as 2014... but we didn’t have Klöse... it was so obvious...

The picture he had taken with Erdogan was a month before the World Cup started, he was being criticized from several German media outlets at that time. Surely if he felt he had been insufficiently protected from the German FA and potentially a victim of racism it would've been more understandable if he'd walked away before the tournament even started?

His silence made the situation worse though And Gundogan did stand back from the photo of him with Erdogan and he still got stick. But he had the added caveat of writing "my president" with the photo. Both made massive misjudgements.

We didn’t have traditional wingers in 2014 as the forward line switched frequently to open gaps in the defence... this allowed Klöse to make room to knock in the delivery and or Götze etc to run into low crosses.... We simply tried to do the same and without Klöse it didn’t work.... Gomez has never been as strong and Werner was not used effectively as it would have meant changing the whole system... we relied on players who were not really into it (arrogance because we qualified so easily??)

Well I was in Hamburg when you played your historical game against South Korea. The locals said the national team set up was steeped in arrogance and forgot other teams were capable and driven. One of them quoted Loew talking about quarter final opponents before the tournament started. It suggests you have a good point in thinking their attitude was... the same thing will work because it worked before. Oblivious to the capabilities of opponents. Mexico beating you was a surprise but hey, Mexico are hardly minnows.

Mexico beating you was a surprise but hey, Mexico are hardly minnows. All excellent points... but I’m not so sure it was arrogance on the side of Jogi... I think it was more so on the players. I’ve never seen us move the ball so slowly as I did during the WM, it reminded me of USA ‘94 and that was painful.... especially after 1990! The only player who seemed up for it and could leave with his head held high was Kroos. Even Boateng reverted back to his pre 2014 form of a serious mistake a game... I was glad he was injured! We should have maintained Werner in the middle, Interchanging with Reus and allow Draxler on the left with Müller on the right... Özil and khadeira should have been dropped after the first game with the youngster Brandt with Kroos in the middle... a fluid 4-4-2 to 4-2-4 as we did in the qualifiers and confederations cup... Btw, the constant harping about Sané was moot. For all his excellence for Man City, he was not as good for the national team! Draxler played much better when called upon.

True but I always found it odd Klose was class though. And someone like Ozil can be a paasenger.

He probably should have just played for Turkey. It's clearly where his heart is. I feel a bit of sympathy for him but then he did choose to represent Germany so I guess he made his own bed. He played nearly 100 - 92 to be precise - games for Germany plus youth caps, so clearly he wanted to play for them. He just retained a deep rooted respect for his grandparents' birthplace, and that's something else entirely. But if he hadn't felt pushed he would probably have played another 50+ games for Germany, as he's only 29. My mother is German, so although I have no doubts which country I support, I always cheer when Germany do well. Last season I got the feeling that all Özil was waiting for was to play in the World Cup. Arsenal came second. Will be interesting to see if he can motivate himself playing for them this year.

He's a disgrace. Made a great living off his football training and international career thanks to Germany and he pays them back by calling them racists and playing the race card on the back of receiving some just criticism for Germanys poor world cup. On top of that you've got that twat Erdogan also calling the DFB racists now and offering their support to the mistreated Ozil. He's stirred up a whole load of shit with his dickish comments.
They should take away his nationality and tell him to fuck off to Turkey. The ungrateful prick.
