I don't particularly want him, but I do enjoy Big Time Stoke City© shoving everybody else in this league around.

If I’m honest that would be my worry I’m hoping if McNair comes it’s as a utility player as we defo need a playmaker. Im a big fan of 4231 Me too. If he's a replacement for Geoff and is used as such we've done well. As a three though that midfield looks boring as hell and two of them (McNair and another for me) should be enough. This seeming obsession of Rowett's with McClean worries me too. I think he'll sign tbh and I just don't think he's good enough. I'm still hoping for 2 wingers and a ball playing midfielder to complete the options. Otherwise we are going to look a bit one dimensional. Once Shaq and NDiaye have gone that gives us £35m to spend and we are still about quits financially.

Pulis the legend! Once he realised his club were after him he withdrew the Middlesbrough bid so as McNair would sign for us & help us get promoted. #BuildTheStatue.

Looks like we could be going 4123 ....................Jack.................. Bauer......Ryan...Indi.......Eric ..................McNair................ ..........Allen.............Pete....... ..Afobe.........STR....McLean. That would be a let down - especially Afobe on the right?!. Still think Rowett will go to type and it will be 4231 with 4 front players who can all contribute a good goals tally., Butland will leave to pay for it. BMI is 50:50 - there wouldn't be the interest in Chester otherwise. Not sure where this McNair midfield thing is so nailed on. Thought he was more a CB, for a good time at least? See him anyhow as taking Cameron's place - utility player who can also operate at full back if pressed. Keeper could be grant, though this may be one of our loan pursuits with Johnstone, Blackman and Gunn being in the sights. Mention too of a couple of young PL wide players (Woodburn, Calvert-Lewin, Harry Wilson?) ... so probably loan also. And if we lose Cameron, Adam, Fletcher, Imbula, Ireland - probably another CM. (I'd be very disappointed if we didn't nick a player off Villa! - so maybe a Harry Lansbury sort?) All in all, am expecting something like this as the home formation at least... Creativity will come from pace down the flanks rather than guile in CM. Johnstone
Bauer Shawcross Chester Pieters Allen EtobiECM or Hoilett Afobe McClean Gayle or Vydra
Subs: Grant, Walker-Peters (loan), Curtis Davis, McNair, Lansbury, Wilson (loan), Crouch/Campbell/Diouf *If we land Hoilett, ECM will go. .. That's better... :-)

Probably a creative goalscoring CM and another striker who can chip in with 10 from the bench. Since Huth left we haven't had any goals from the back four to speak of either.

It's not that straightforward is it we need all those guys firing and we still need to sign up 27 of those goals. Rowett had about 7 forwards at Derby! He likes his forwards. Can't see he will be relying on Afobe alone. Long season, will inevitably dip in form or energy. Has mentioned age as a problem at Derby. Really thinks he wants 2 frontline forwards and then wide forwards who can score as well. Gayle (20), Afobe (15), Hoilett (8), Crouch/Diouf/Campbell etc (6), McClean (6), Allen (10 inc 5 pens), Etobi (3), Shawx (2), Chester (2), OG (2), Bauer (1), Others/Loanees (4). = 79.

One off results are hard to predict, as there will be games that you win and lose that you don't derserve to, but play the odds over a season! Like it.

It not all about the quality. team spirit, organisation and never say die attitude play a big part in getting you out of this league

He was amazing the first half of the season to be fair, won games on his own but one of my housemates is a Villa fan so we are forced to put up with hearing/seeing a lot of Villa and the second half of the season he did nowt.

Can you think of another club in the championship next season who will have as good a squad as ours on paper? Can we wait until 5th August to answer that? Swansea, WBA, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Forest and Derby i think will spend a few quid and use the loan market to attract PL youngsters. If we spend the Shaq and NDaiye money wisely we will be as good as anyone. Positive but still a way to go though.

Like an England goalkeeper, a midfielder who was in the euro 2016 team of the tournament? Shawcross, bruno, bauer, afobe? Maybe even bojan? We will also probably add another striker, winger, playmaker type player. There will be more than enough quality as long as we have a coherent game plan.

He was amazing the first half of the season to be fair, won games on his own but one of my housemates is a Villa fan so we are forced to put up with hearing/seeing a lot of Villa and the second half of the season he did nowt. Rowett mentioned age as the undoing of Derby's promotion push too. Its not that 31 is "too old", but generally seems "fitness and energy" are key factors. Rely on your wingers or forwards to play every game at full pelt at your peril. Then to get yourself to the top of the tree, you need a 3 players firing who make a difference with goals or assists: Wolves were exceptional, but Fulham did it with Sessegnon, Mitrovic and Johansenn, Cardiff had Zahore, Paterson and Hoilett. When we came up in 07/08 it was Fuller, Cresswell and Lawrence. (Makes McNair an odd one. Have no views on him as a player, but wincing a bit if we are buying another injury prone player).
