Personally I've not felt more upbeat and positive in a long time, in regards to scfc. I thought relegation would dampen my spirits from a footballing point of view, as I'm sure a few of you would. The opportunity to thrive in this league and not just survive is an exciting challenge, and the fire has already been fuelled with the appointment of Rowett. I can't fucking wait to be back in the boothen come August. UTMP. Pride of the A50

FAR FAR FAR FAR too early to have an opinion, lets wait and see how many players stay, then what we need to compete in championship first, then thrive. The first stage has been completed we have a manager than can spend money, thats all we have so far.

We're into a period where none of us know what will happen when we turn up on a match day.
That in itself is the most excitement i've had for 2 years.

I'd love us to take a punt on Gary Rowett as manager. Done cracking things with Burton and then Birmingham. Currently at derby who will be pushing for playoffs. Obviously based in the Midlands already. I personally think he'll be a class manager in years to come. Liked him for a while myself. Edit. Not sure the date stamp came up, posted October. Followed Rowett for a while as I'm pretty close to a few Burton and Birmingham lads. He'll do a decent job.

Wish him well but nobody fancied him in the most recent poll of nearly 900 board members - where's this spunk fest come from? Relief I am guessing - I too am glad they've not dragged their feet despite not recruiting "my" choice - see what transpires Anyhow, he's here now and everyone will want him to do well whoever we might have preferred BUT I dread another "slow" (read appalling) start as it will become very difficult very quickly ........ I'm guessing the spunk fest has come from him not being the same old, and that poll was largely nonsense anyway, the leading candidates were mostly unrealistic that we had no chance of signing, most seemed to have realised that now and have become more realistic given our current situation. I can't see anything but a slow start tbh, there's a massive amount of work to be done before the start of the season, I can't say I'm expecting much but hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Im cautiously waiting for the root and branch changes within the club, Scholes, Cartwright et al being given their p45's and a goodbye handshake.

Hard to say. If the New Direction team are still calling the recruitment shots I doubt it will make any real difference who is manager.
If the new man demands to take control back then we’ll see if he can spot a player that can achieve what’s needed.
If he can we’re back in business. If not...

Can't some people be happy for a change? He was the best manager realistically we could have got. We have the finance to make a good shot at promotion. Just enjoy the moment.

If he has full control of the ins and outs of the club then he has every chance of doing well. As long as those twonks upstairs don't get in the way.

I'm looking forward to being competitive in the Championship and winning more than seven games. If the new manager has the financial backing being touted and gets in players he wants it could well be a good season. Here's hoping.

He signed a 5 year contract with the Derby and walked out on them , I wish him well but if gets us promoted then whose to say he won’t walk again I think some people are getting way too far ahead of themselves with stuff like this. Before we appointed Rowett there was a lot of people saying things like we need someone with a proven top flight record so they can transition to the Premier League after promotion. We've got to get there yet! We're in The Championship now. We're fishing in a different pool now and we have to adjust our expectations accordingly. If someone offered me now that Rowett would get us promoted then walk out on us in the summer for West Ham or Newcastle I'd take that in a heartbeat because it means we've got promoted. We need to worry about next season first and the challenges the Championship will throw at us. We can worry about the Premier League and managers waking out on us if we get there. If Rowett walks out on us then it'll probably mean he's done a good job so I'll take that.

Looking forward, give it 2 or 3 seasons and well probably be saying the same things Derby fans are now when he goes to Everton or West ham.

He signed a 5 year contract with the Derby and walked out on them , I wish him well but if gets us promoted then whose to say he won’t walk again That’s football I’m afraid. Players and managers leave clubs whilst they’re still under contract. If he gets us promoted and someone like Everton come in for him, then he’ll leave, it’s only natural for anyone with an ounce of ambition. Maybe we should employ older managers without the same level of determination to succeed and settle for mediocrity because “they might leave for a better opportunity” if we do well.

Well if he gets us up then with the extra money he would hopefully sign another contract and stay a further three years or more unless a top 6 club comes in for him

Happy so far but too much still to do to be optimistic about the coming season. Changing manager was just the first change of many needed. Once it's more clear on who is staying and going and who we're bringing in then I'll draw an opinion.

Well one things for sure, there's no chance of us "doing a Sunderland" with Rowett in charge. To those people who think we will/might, you're talking out of your arse.

On the fence really. Plenty to be positive about with a few question marks at the same time, and we should be under no illusions about the size of the task at hand.

Its a refreshing change. A manager that has been recruited from another club with a decent track record in this division. It certainly makes a change from shopping in a "he will do for now" type basket.
Its a positive change of direction by the club and I'm guessing it has been motivated largely by John Coates. If so, then I feel a lot more positive about the future of the club under his control than that of his father's and thats by no means any disrespect to Coates Snr, I just feel his time is up as most likely, we would of ended up with Mick McCarthy if he was controlling who replaced Lambert, infant, I don't think Coates Snr would of got rid of Lambert in the first place.
We now have a manager who knows how this league works and what to do to make a successful campaign of it. He needs to be backed in the window, Id imagine he has already been promised a decent kitty once a few players have been sold off.
Much more positive now then I have been in a long time. Well played Stoke.

I'm excited, Rowett is a great appointment who seems to have untied the vast majority of the fans - when was the last time that happened?
Still, I'm under no illusions - this team needs major reconstruction. There is dead wood that needs shipping out, and players that need bringing in namely a striker or two.
The board have started well, I must give them that - they, including Rowett have now got to get their heads down and make the changes ASAP.
It's a good start, but there's a long way to go - if they don't back Rowett financially we'll struggle because Guardiola couldn't get a tune out of this lot.

Feel really excited and very optimistic. Young English manager, very good track record !
It does depend on who goes/stays, but time to be happy.
When he was doing well @ Birmingham i thought even then id like him at Stoke
