Need an update as to whether he is at the open training session this morning ( and are there any other absent players?)
I do think that Hart would be good replacement for the immediate future, but I believe he would want to negotiate a longer contract - not that they seem to mean much anymore

Ironically I think Heaton is the best keeper out of all 3 as well. When he's fit I would agree.... Suffers badly with cramp though. Avoid.

And have Federici in goal for 4 games. No thanks, it needs sorting before that with a proper number 1. Why? Do you think he is any more error prone or any less commanding in his box than Butland is at the moment? Err yes. He made a mistake that cost us a goal on Sunday but he also made 2 great saves to keep us in the game. He hasn’t had the best of years but I’m not surprised with the injury he suffered and the car crash of a season we had. Butland is a top goalkeeper and the fact that a club like Chelsea are chasing him tells you all you need to know about his qualities. Federici was brought in as a number 2 and I’d worry if we had to rely on a bloke that’s made 2 appearances in competitive football since 2016.

The were regulation saves that any pro keeper makes. Just like the second goal should have been.

But I don't think having Butland is ideal tbh. If Grant was still here, he'd be in for me.

Jack was poor on Sunday, despite a couple of solid saves. I'm not saying I want him gone, but I worry his head and heart has gone from Stoke. Maybe it's time to let the lad have his big break and move on with Federici or something? Fuck knows. Not great though, is it? I don't think we can really roll with Federici without quite some risk. He seems like a nice chubby fella but I checked out wiki and he has only kept goal 8 times in the last 3 seasons. He must have almost forgotten how to do it.

Still can’t understand why we let a decent number 2 go so easily. Surely he thought he had a chance at being our number 1 if Jack left. I know he’s at a big club at The Shit but he’s a number 3 keeper now and never going to play.

Stoke did not want to stand in his way. Ps. I was going to type one of the biggest clubs in the world ,but I felt sick and couldn’t do it. 😟

Lee Grant had played in goal 10 times at a lower level the season before he was our player of the year. Federici's always been regarded as a decent Champ keeper. I dunno, selling Grant then Butland so late does seem an odd move.

Loan Grant until Jan and let’s find a descent replacement and avoid panicking into a move we may regret. If Grant is 3rd choice he may be very open to the idea.

As longh as we got a suitable replacement and reinvested the money wisely, I wouldn’t be too fussed to see Jakob Butland go.

If someone is willing to pay 30 million for Jack Butland (and assuming that 30 mil will be invested back into the squad, however unlikely..) then I'd absolutely let him go and ride out 4 games with Federici or one of the youngsters in goal. It wouldn't be much worse than throwing one in your own net every other game..

Butland is nowhere near as good as Bego who spent all his time at Chelsea getting splinters. Jack will not be wanted there, he's not good enough. The rumours are all papertalk/guesswork based on his bench work with England!

With all this talk of Courtois leaving Chelsea and Butland potentially on his way there it may be worth noting that since our link to Keiren Westwood a few weeks back he was immediately withdrawn from pre season games and actually hasn't played a competitive minute for Sheffield Wednesday, not even present on their bench at the weekend despite claiming he's fit. Keiren Westwood Verified account @westwoodkeiren Jul 25 More Keiren Westwood Retweeted The Star, Sport 🤔💭I missed 1 training session last Thursday.I’m not injured and haven’t been all preseason. Thanks to everyone who messaged me with concern but I’m grand 🙂 Missing one training session since the 18th June proves I’m 100% not injured 👍🏻 I’m Stronger&Fitter than iv ever been!Tied to this is the fact that at a Question and Answer session with their fans last night their chairman claimed that the club is in deep trouble, needs to sell and is under a transfer embargo (can't understand why this news hasn't been publicised more) I might be putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5 but there could be something in the original paper talk. I wouldn't be surprised if a deal has been done in principle in case Butland leaves (or would that be giving the pizza boys too much credit?) EDIT: just seen the previous post...I'm 30 minutes too late

If we got good money for Butland I'd be happy with Westwood, cracking keeper at this level.

Good to see that he hasn’t gone AWOL
Good professional, surely disappointed if he doesn’t move to Chelsea
I’m confident he will still be in Gareth Southgates plans
He needs to be starting every game wherever he is
Selfishly it would be good to retain him

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-chelsea-butland-rowett-1870862"I heard the speculation myself," said Rowett, "and it gets stronger and stronger with the Courtois situation.
"As far as I'm concerned, I will only get told when a firm offer has come in as to whether it's something worth even considering. "And at this late stage that would be difficult."
"But I can't control the speculation. The speculation sometimes comes to drum up in interest in players from agents.
"It sometimes comes to stoke up certain things. It sometimes comes because there is an element of truth to it.
"The problem as a manager, you often don't know which one of those things it is until the last minute.
"So we will see."

I think Stoke had banked on getting large fees for Allen, Badou & maybe Butland. As all 3 are still here probably explains why incomings have dried up
