"The chairman said a couple of weeks ago that I was [staying] but whether that remains we'll wait and see."
Can’t see Coates changing his mind. Lambert’s Barney army😟😳

And how's it gone since then?
Be off with you man.

Be off with you man. He’s won a game! Means nothing to me, but when you (Coates) appear to be going down the cheap option, and you’ve told someone they’re keeping their job, do you change your mind. Not likely.

It does put PC in an awkward position. There's an easy conversation to have, and a difficult one. Which will Peter choose?

Watching that interview has raised my spirits a little, he looked and sounded like a man on borrowed time.

Which is exactly what he should have done when removing Hughes instead of making the club a laughing stock in the national media. He's too old fashioned, you sort the incoming before dispensing with the outgoing. He's probably still living in a world between his ears where that is bad form. Exactly why 80 year olds shouldn't be running multi million £ organisations they have difficulty living in the world as it is and pine for the past.

Exactly- no sacking until the replacement has agreed to join - don't repeat the mistake from last time that got us Lambert in the 1st place!

Watch the video on the official site he says toward the end "we'll" then corrects himself amd says " the club" [will rebuild for next season]
He also talks about talking to the player's on Monday and telling them his thoughts. Sounds very much like a parting chat how be says it.
I think he knows he's a goner.

The joint statement where they had the perfect opportunity to reiterate he was staying and, conspicuously, chose not to. That works both ways though. They've had the chance to say he's going, but haven't taken it. The only comment one way or the other was from Coates saying Lambert would be manager next season.

With Moyes coming out this evening and admitting his contract ends with West Ham at midnight I wouldn't be surprised if some form of contact is made if Coates's silence was waiting on a Moyes or allardyce being available then it will make perfect sense tony scholes has worked with Moyes at Preston so there's links definitely there.
