Is it just me or does our predicament have an air of sabotage about it. We have quite a few aging players, players with bad attitudes, lack of fitness. Reports of not practicing defending from Marc Wilson. Not one single striker available except Crouchy who at 37 is a big ask to carry a seasons worth of goals. Players who are on massive contracts playing for other clubs or in exile. So basically we have a shrinking squad availability and few saleable assets, who in there right mind would buy Wimmer, Imbula, Betahino* etc apart from us.
I just feel we have been mega stitched up buy someone or a group of people!
* sorry for the pun but he was a massive gamble

Nope, it's 100% of the club's own making.
No excuses, no conspiracy theories, no bad luck, they need to own up and take responsibility of that fact.

Yes, but this is incompetence on a whole new level. I don’t think you can be this incompetent by accident.

I don't think there's any sabotage here, more likely it's:

PC is a good man and felt Sparky deserved more time. I was also in that category and now see what a disaster it was not getting rid last May. Hughes unfortunately let us down badly and too much damage has been done for us to recover from. I’m sure PC and others inc me thought we could pull out of this hence his comment... ‘ I don’t know what all the fuss is about’ which I’m sure he now regrets. I wish their were more chairman with the intestinal fortitude of PC. Yes he has made mistakes but who hasn’t? It’s been 10 great years and hopefully we can complete the great escape but if we don’t it’s been one hell of a ride and we owe a lot to PC.

What I don't get the the length of contracts some of the players have . It will make major change whatever league we are in hard and we needed it two years ago. I'd put it down to a mixture of complacency and unwillingness to invest to the level needed . Which as is often the case has meant we will lose a lot more money in the long run

I have to agree with you and in PC ‘s defence he really does love the club ...I think he’s not always fed the correct information by certain people whom he trusts and now we are where we are....but I think he’ll want us to bounce back into the prem If we go down ...so I think we should do what we do best and support the team through the good times and the crap times...I know I will...’city till I die”

I'm sure he does love the club, and yes through slightly gritted teeth, we do owe him our thanks. BUT, let's not forget that he's done fantasticly well out of the club, TWICE. And used it as a vehicle to promote his MAIN businesses. To my mind I think this mess were in unfortunately leads to him. The buck stops with him and his decisions.

Yes, but this is incompetence on a whole new level. I don’t think you can be this incompetent by accident. I would say that if it's combined with the over arching philosophy of financial stability then it's possible to be blind to ramifications of poor planning.

Which as is often the case has meant we will lose a lot more money in the long run The long contracts are part of the brains trusts plans to buy youngish players with re-sale value, the 'sustainability model'. They failed miserably! Imagine you're a buyer for a multimillion pound company but continuously bought good you couldn't sell!

More suicide than sabotage I think. Someone scouting and deciding to pursue Wimmer, then someone deciding he was worth £18m, then someone signing off the cheque. It does have a feel of lemmings following each other off a cliff, doesn't it.

If you want sabotage have a look down at the Hawthorns a few months ago.... Indeed. Mr.Pulis could see the absolute mess Mark Hughes had got us into, and because Pulis' love for Stoke City is so strong he decided to sacrifice his own job by sending West Brom down in the hope that it'd help us to survive. Legend. Build him a statue!

If you want sabotage have a look down at the Hawthorns a few months ago.... I don’t think getting rid of a proven relegation fighter was sabotage. Just incompetence - but the board are Chinese and probably know nothing about football so don’t be too harsh.

What i dont get is a club like stoke, signing a whole raft of players who are just not on board, not up for it.
Maybe chelsea can sign a morata who doesnt really want to be at chelsea
Arsenal an Ozil, who doesnt really want to be at Arsenal
Etc Etc... I dont know???
Maybe morata and Ozil are useful to a degree . Even if they are never going to be fans favourites.
But substantially below that level... A wimmer who doesnt want to be here? A jesse who doesnt want to be here Etc Etc. To me that is very unlikely to work.
