Who is this guy? Who elected him? I don’t mean politicians I mean people.
He comes on my T V screen and pontificates a totally inflexible position and no body from ourside answers or contradicts his totally one sided opinions.
Everything that has driven us out of the EU is encapsulated in this man. We need a Churchill, Thatcher type politician ( nothing to do with party), to tell him to get stuffed. Refer him to his member states who love to trade and export to us and let’s get this soughted out.
I voted to remain by by the way.

Guy Verhofstadt
This man should concern you more. Thinks populism and nationalism are cancers. The problem for them is they seem incapable of seeing its rise throughout the EU, which will eventually either destroy the project or at least cause it serious harm.

A slimy slippery self opinionated Cunt at that, maybe he'd like his 2 million Polish nationals living here sending back to their homeland.

I caught Tusk's rejection of May's speech on ITV and was struck by the tone that they struck. Peston presented it as "Tusk says fuck you to May, and rightly so". He was sneering in his attitude to our Prime Minister and a lacky to a EU representative.
This has been the media attitude throughout and I find it both shameful and puzzling. I would feel the same whoever the PM was, irrespective of the party they represented.
I am not asking the media to be cheerleaders for the government, but they have actively supported the EU at every turn (I know some will argue with that, but they really have).
I find it a bit sickening and sinister, to be honest. I'm more proud than ever that I voted to leave, the more they tell me that I was wrong to.

The EU are a bunch of self serving suits with agendas which benefit the country from whence they came and though I dislike Farage, he’s given it to them straight a few times with some brilliant rants at the EU Parliament, in particular the ‘Who are you’ tirade which went down like a dose with the unelected nobodies. Another one who gets on my wick is Christine Lagarde, the MD of the IMF who is constantly getting the GB economy predictions wrong and indirectly putting us down. I’m wondering if she’s related to de Gaulle! Personally, I’m loving the mayhem Trump is causing with his trade tariffs and the result of the Italian election is shaking the EU more than they dare to admit, at this point in time it suits our agenda. I’m not suggesting it’s good for world trade but it’s shaking the EU tree at the right time for Britain. I’m with Tricky regarding the British media’s political ‘reporting’, Laura Keunsberg is a disgrace to the BBC and I have yet to see/hear her ask an intelligent question regarding leaving the EU and the negotiations. Does the media seriously expect negotiators to show their hand? One thing this country is good at is trade and making money, long may it continue and ........ Rule Britannia.

What amazes me is that people don't seem to take on board that the EU has no real opposition or criticism of its policies ( and practices) as it relentlessly pursues its agenda of ever closer union and central control. It was not devised as a " parliament" , representative of the citizens, but is in fact a bureaucracy administering a concept/ idea/ process/ machine/ self serving political institution. A close model is that of an empire/Soviet union( the Russia/ USSR relationship is like Germany/EU) but with the pretence of democracy. The reason that the commission are giving freedom to put forward the policy is because the hierarchy are well aware that " everyone in the machine knows their role and place" Farage attempting to treat the EU parliament like a proper parliament ( shock, horror) stands out like a sore thumb, and can easily be subject to ridicule being a minority, a pain in the arse

In answer to your question of who elected him, he was chosen by the elected PMs (or equivalent) of each member state of the EU and by the elected MEPs. Like our senior civil servants and government advisors. Except Tusk likes the media more! His power is limited though so i wouldn't take too much notice of him....like Jacob Rees Mogg or Chuka Ummuna - limited power but they like to talk a lot.

An alternative answer: He is basically a German " yes" man, essentially appointed to toe the party line, based upon behind the scenes manouvering, not genuinely elected. An example of the charade of the EU, if anyone would care to look beyond the facade. From the Guardian; "His reappointment until the end of 2019 means he will play a crucial role in Britain’s negotiations to leave the EU. “We know now that it [the EU] is a union under Berlin’s diktat,” the Polish foreign minister, Witold Waszczykowski, told Polish media, echoing persistent claims by PiS that the EU is controlled by Berlin. In a rare formal vote, 27 of the EU’s 28 governments supported Tusk. The Polish prime minister, Beata Szydło, confirmed that Poland would retaliate by blocking the EU summit communique, a statement summarising EU policy on economic growth, migration and the western Balkans. But the document can still be approved in a different procedure, a manoeuvre likely to deepen the wedge between Warsaw and other EU capitals. She repeated her arguments that Tusk was “not a good president of the European council”, but did not follow her political mentor Jarosław Kaczyński in lashing out at Germany. Kaczyński, the prickly PiS leader, who is not in Brussels, said Tusk’s appointment showed the EU was dominated by Germany. In recent days his supporters have called Tusk ‘the German candidate’ in an attempt to call into question his loyalties. Tusk later told reporters: “Be careful the bridges you burn because once they have gone you can never cross them again”. He said the saying was dedicated to “all member states ... but today especially to the Polish government”. In the past, the Polish government has accused Tusk of using his EU position to interfere in domestic politics and blamed him for siding with Brussels against Warsaw " www.theguardian.com/world/2017/mar/09/donald-tusk-re-elected-as-european-council-president-despite-polish-opposition
