However bad England may be, I cannot wait for the World Cup absolutely love it I'm the same and let's be honest they can't be any worse than last time can they? The last one was probably the first one in a long time that I’d not got my hopes up for ... and even then I felt let down. However also can’t wait!

I slag england off from the manager, the call ups, the performances, the results, throughout the qualifying, but as soon as the 1st match kicks off i cant’t help but get excited, then 10 days later its back to not caring.

No one seems to take notice anymore. Used to be flags on every car and house before a world cup.
I suspect the majority have lost interest/hope in the game. A game that seems to be run by crooks and played by them.
I consider myself a footie man, but get more excited when the ruga finals come around these days, I watch every minute of the rugby, can tell you all the players and sit on the edge of my seat for the entire game. It is a long time since I last made 90 mins of football and I am pretty sure I would not have a rats ass of clue of naming 11 England internationals
I suspect I will sit there watch the opening ceremony get into the spirit a bit and then drop off to sleep within 5 mins of the opening match and struggle to switch it on again.
Football, on the whole, is a toss package at the moment and seems to be getting more tedious as time goes by

Tournament is now much too big with most games boring and pointless until the last 16. I used to watch every game possible but now will probably watch England unenthusiastically and a couple of others until the last 16 and not even all the games after that.

Can’t wait. Panama, Peru, possibly Messi’s last chance. Germany, a brilliant France side. Will Belgium do anything? England have on paper their strongest side for a while and might even get out of the group. Shaq. Ndiaye and possibly Dioufy. Ramadan and Egypt’s first World Cup appearance for 28 years.

England's team still seems to be in a bit of flux. Will Hart even travel as he'll surely be No.3 keeper at best? Loftus-Cheek's injured for a while, and looks to be a long shot for the squad now. Rashford's not getting much football. Lallana's not really playing much. Winks too Has Wilshere played his way into the XI, let alone the squad? Alli not having a great season. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/revealed-just-one-place-left-11528687John Cross, in November, said Southgate was 100% set on a kind of 3-4-1-1-type formation (with Dier at the back) and had decided on 10 of the positions Keeper Jones-Dier-Stones Walker-Henderson-??-Lallana-Rose Alli KaneIf that still stands, maybe Wilshere is in pole now? Or is Sterling in the kind of form where he needs to be accommodated? www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/england/to-make-england-world-cup-2018-squadPickford Butland Hart Walker Trippier Rose Bertrand Jones Stones Dier Maguire Cahill Henderson Lallana Wilshere Sterling Alli Kane Vardy Rashford
That would leave 3 spots: Lingard? Gomez? Winks? Or Delph? Demarai Gray? Chalobah? Welbeck? Loftus-Cheek? Oxlade? Walcott?

Used to be a lot more fun when you had african or asian sides with all the players totally new, nowadays all the good players are seen all the time. Also it goes on for ages and a lot of the matches are shit boring

Toss that we don't have a Friday night or a Saturday game for the drinkers amongst us but still.

I consider myself a footie man Doesn't sound like you're a footie man any more! I played footie for 40 years. Has been a big part of my life and I still love the game, just dislike the people who run it and the majority of people who play it I get my fix watching non-league footie and Women's football these days

There is so much wrong with FIFA, and how they organise the tournament and select the hosts, but it is the World Cup!
I will still be hopelessly optimistic about England's chances and massively disappointed by the outcome - it was ever thus......

Because of great past history I tend to look forward to the worlds. The great Brazilian teams, the birth of Dutch football, Scotland's one stab at glory, the rise and instant fall of Denmark in 86, the perfection of Germany's team last time around...and plenty more. But overall there have been an awful lot of dreary games, teams afraid of losing. The fact that the only really important games in football these days are the last eight in the Champions league means that the worlds somehow become unexciting, no doubt helped by the fact that there will be more teams in the finals than ever before resulting in more boring games with teams that don't really belong there. No doubt one such team will surprise us all and achieve greater wins than can logically be expected, but in the end Germany always wins.

who is the big dark horse this year? The home team. They have been really poor for several years now and had the cup been held anywhere else they probably wouldn't even have qualified. But fierce patriotism and the roll of the rubles might inspire them to go far.
