Totally fed up of the Virgin packet and increasing costs I decided to ring up and cancel.
I was on the phone for 35 mins, gave my password and Act No 5 times to four individuals who I managed to get in touch with after numerous options and many mins listening to music in between pressing buttons.
U believably bad service for which I am paying £49 pm for a telephone I never use, freeview channels only and broadband.
Rant over but I will not be going back to Virgin when I want to reconnect.
Any recommendations for broadband only ?

I cancelled in 15 minutes. Waited for the stay on line for an operator. Told them i was moving down south and no longer required the service but would get in touch once ive resettled to open a new account. Cancelled straight away and got a cheque with a refund of balance.

In my experience the problems start with all these providers when you start to have a problem. When everything is hunky dory, everything seems fine. But when you change, it all changes.
They are all the same; structured around acquiring customers not losing them. In the old days that was why they had far more people employed in sales than customer service. Today, it's how they structure their web sites and telephone dial in systems. Do what they want, you're ok. Do something they don't want, you'll struggle.

The only negative is that the broadband speed here is literally scream-the-place-down SLOW, but that's down to living in an area away from any gas supplies, cables, and mains services in general....

I suppose it depends on where you live because I had that problem when I lived in Newcastle, when I moved to Trentham it's super fast for some reason. You'd think in this day and age, it'd be similar all over.

Just had an email off Vodafone offering 76MB Broadband for £24 per month including line rental.
I just have the basic package with Virgin, but love the Tivo box, are there any Freeview boxes that are comparable?

They have got to be the absolutely worst set-up on the planet.

I suspect they are all as bad as each other. what I would like is just broadband and then normal freeview TV and my Amazon prime stick will give me all I need.
