40 years!
I remember turning on the radio on under the bedcovers as a kid to get the late night sports desk on Radio 2 and couldnt believe the score when I heard it.
We, too, have suffered at the hands of Blyth Spartans, losing a replay up there in 2008. Cost us a home televised 3rd round tie against Blackburn, and by god we needed the money then. Big factor in Jimmy Quinn getting sacked that New Years Eve and Eddie Howe taking over. And the rest, as they say....

Let’s go back to January 1966. A certain FA Cup tie against Walsall and a certain Bobby Irvine. Who can remember that one I’ve googled but can’t get the teams

Was there with my old fella. Watched it from The Stoke End. My only memory of the game is Roger Jones dropping a cross.

Let’s go back to January 1966. A certain FA Cup tie against Walsall and a certain Bobby Irvine. Who can remember that one I’ve googled but can’t get the teams Yup, fortunately time is actually a good thing to make that memory fade. Keeper sent off for twatting Alan Clarke (justifiable, in view of him later playing for Leeds, via Lester). Front of the Boothen Paddock and asking my Dad "How can this happen, Stoke are better". Good life lesson. I also think that was when Denis Violet broke the net with a shot that ended up in the net, ref gave the goal and disallowed it. Then a fiasco with 2 blokes, string and a step-ladder - although I may be making that up. Its a fucking good job time travel is impossible.

I wasn't there, I was up my street in Weston Coyney, listening to it. I threw my radio across the road at the end - it broke.

Middle of the boothen end very worrying timeline I've got a mate who was in the middle of the Boothen End and he says it was bad enough being knocked out by a non league club. BUT to exacerbate the pain there was a bloke behind him going on about good windows and bad windows and net spend and when the plucky part timers scored the winner he said it was because there was no investment in the team. It was pointed out our players are full time and they are part time and we should be beating them but he just kept repeating his tired old mantra despite it being irrelevant in this case. He had nothing to offer.

Told all my new friends at school about how awesome City were

What a shitty day that was at school after the result
They were all waiting for me LOL

I was a student in Nottingham at the time.
I had come home for the original game that was washed out and not being able to take the hint I also came back for the game that was played. I was on the Boothen End about 10 rows back from Post A.
My Dad gave me a lift back to Longton station where I caught the last train back to Beeston and then walked from the station back to my room on campus. I was very cold, very wet and very brassed off by the time I got back!
I remember going down for breakfast next morning to discover that the place was suddenly full of geordies. Boy did I take some stick that day!

I wasn't there being only 11 but next morning via the late news section on the back of the Daily Mirror (No internet in those days) I became aware of not only Blyth Spartans but also the Potters two clubs who would loom large in my life for the next 40 years......

I was still at school - I had to go into the sixth form the next day. I was the only stoke supporter in a school of Wolves fans.
I got pelters and have never forgotten it.

For some reason I stood on the Butler St Paddock. It was the last time I did.
We put out a decent team and should have won with ease especially considering we had battered Tilbury in the previous round.
I remember we came on the pitch first in our new kit and got a mixed reaction as fans struggled to realise this was the Stoke team.

Yes the referee forced us to wear our yellow away strip which caught out many Stoke supporters who thought it was the visitors entering the field
