I was there on the Boothen End. I've no idea where the two people that I was with that day are now, haven't seen them for years. Got me thinking now.

Yes, I was there. I was a student in Manchester at the time and had come back especially to see it. That game is burnt into my memory - still cant believe how awful we were that Monday night.

I was there in the Boothen..chucked my scarf on the pitch at the end to those players in green..much to my grandads annoyance.
First game got called off due to snow..this was the rescheduled game.

The funny thing is that years later I played at Blyth and lived about 2 mile from their ground.

Fraid so...
Didn't we wear yellow shirts for some reason?
I'm guessing as they wore green and white stripes (?)they'd not brought a change of kit !

I was there Boothen end at the front. What I remember was watching a fellow Stokie throw his badge covered red and white scarf onto the pitch and announce heβd had enough!!!! I recall thinking how much must those badges of cost??!!

Why was it played on a Monday? It had been postponed for snow and the weather, and other games coming up I think.

Middle Boothen as an idialistic 16 year old . Really should have collected all the scarves etc that was thrown onto the pitch. made a fortune on ebay now Probably my worst feeling as a Stoke supporter as everthing at that age was way more important. My field of fucks at this present day ineptitude of idiocy is pretty much barren GD Same age, was it mock O level time and should have been revising at the time? Back of Boothen block D

Is it true that this game had been postponed three or four times before playing on 6th of January?

It was a Monday? Other than that still vivid memories. I remember their keeper conducting the Boothen singing when we went 2 - 1! Laughing and joking he was. No one was laughing at the end. As a 16 year old I doubted for the first time we were by far the greatest team the world has ever seen. Shudder!
