Kind of the last farewell to Hughesball and we got some of the virtues as well as the shortcomings tonight - that SHOULDN"T be a relegation side we saw out there, we're way classier than that and we weren't 3 goals worse on the night either. But the defensive gaps, the unforced errors, those are evidence of criminally dire training ground routines or lack of them. Lack of confidence and lack of the lucky breaks that come from confidence are more understandable, we can get them back. Big job for Lambert but it's genuinely achievable with what we have, IF we can add 2 or 3 strong defenders and above all a quality midfield destroyer. Let's be positive and believe Sir PC has seen something in Lambert that's not yet there on his managerial CV - watch this space for next week's ratings from Fortress Bet365 For Eddie tonight from me, a nominal 5 * if you were there please

-3 for starting Crouch +10 for the subs, made when he saw an issue and didn't just resort to 442 hoofball.

I would say 7 tbh. Subs were good but be probably should have started with the team we ended with. Some great play in that 1st half with some brave team selections under tough circumstances. I was pleasantly suprised

Decent use of subs. Tactics good especially in the 1st half. Sadly fitness is still an issue but hoping that will improve. Bauer looked very good.
Still carrying some passengers though and Lambert has his work cut out to fix them or replace them.

7 from me at least he didn't wave the white flag and on another day we could have had a couple of goals, he gave it a go but errors by Tymon and Kalamity Kurt cost us dearly. Good luck for the future Eddie if your services won't be needed when Lamberghini takes the reigns. Gouranga.

A solid 8. Did everything that Hughes failed to do in the last couple of months. Strong subs, we didn't just ping the ball to crouch at every opportunity, we had the confidence to keep the ball down and play some good football. Created loads of chances, more than most teams coming the Old Trafford but didn't take our chances. Lambert will improve our defence but we have enough quality to stay up. And the fans were absolutely amazing.

Same as everyone else really, tried to make positive changes when he could and didn't leave it until the last min to make a change.

His post match interviews were good - clearly a decent bloke hurting from what has happened...even if he probably still doesn’t recognise some of the basic problems the management team he was part of have left us with.

7 Got them to stand up which is more than Hughes has done recently
going to add 1 for making the right substitutions and stepping up to the plate away at Man U which must have been tough.
so 8

Problem is he made the same mistake as Hughes. He played a young kid at fullback who is just not ready for premier league football. Whether you like Wimmer or not he was a better option at left back than Tymon. Arnie destroyed Tymon the other week and he looks like a rabbit in the headlights, costing us the 2 first half goals

He'd make a good manager. Wasted following Hughes round in his shadow.

Cheers. Great interview. Passionate - loyal to Hughes and to the club which is fair enough.

I liked how much common sense stuff he did that had become completely beyond Hughes. The substitutions were the right ones and made sense. He didn't panic and change formation again. Ireland was worth a go and had a decent game.
Obviously we have precious little quality and were dire second half, but it could've been a lot worse.

The key words for me were "I wanted to shore it up". He wasn't prepared to hand over a team on the badk of a 5 or 6 goal defeat. I must admt that I was pleasantly surprised at the scoreline, considering our recent form.
We can build from here. It's Ground Zero.

If Hughes did some of the things EN did last night he would still be in a job

So funny. Yes. Because football isn't black and white. We were decent first half and dire second half. The players who came off were the players who needed to come off and you could see the thinking behind the changes even if they didn't have much impact away against the second best team in the league. I never mentioned a Plan B. It'd be nice if just once you had some sort of opinion of your own about the game rather than just existing to rubbish everyone else.

Refreshing, enjoyable to watch. That's right, enjoyable. Thats how bad stoke have become under hughes.
Could of gone in at 2-2 choupo moting and ireland both should of scored. 3 subs used well and at the right time.
+2 were added onto the score because he noticed tymon getting spanked and made the correct change at half time when hughes wouldnt of bothered. another +1 for his honest approach before the game in his pre match.
