Still my favourite game, for atmosphere and drama, was the home win over Spurs where Gomes was in tears. That game had everything.

One I enjoyed, oddly enough, was the 3-2 against Hughes' Fulham in 2010. Snowy boxing day match, the original televised match (United possibly) was postponed, so they televised us now. 3-0 in first half with a double from Mama. Proper good watch. Under the kosh the second half though.
The 6-1 against Liverpool though, what excellent football we truly played.

The 6-1 battering of Liverpool in Steeeeveee Geeeees last ever game for them. Loads of scousers paying way over the odds to get tickets added to the joy of their misery and humiliation.

This, the game that made even N'Zonzi smile , what a goal he scored. I hope my recording never wears out. For pure game quality the 4-3 against Everton was awesome. Would have graced a cup final. A mention for the Arsenal game with Bojans goal ruled out which was a sublime first half of football.

Our first home game; 3-2 vs Villa. I also loved the 1-0 (Beattie header) vs Man City. That Hughes win vs Man City. 1-1 vs Hull when Myhill kicked the ball out for a corner instead of a throw-in, and Windass was booked for warming up in front of a Delap throw. When we should have gone 3-0 up against Arsenal. 6-1 vs Liverpool.

All of the above, but Shaq's half volley in that 4-3 win at Everton remains for me personally the most sublime few seconds of football I have ever seen us play in the PL.
Don't be too despondent lads, we may still survive.

Trouble is, we went from the false number 9 to the false back line. Problem was that teams started to figure us out. Hughes tried to change the system but in doing so he didn't make a few tweaks he attempted to revamp the whole set-up. This left us with the players having no clue what to do on the pitch, whether to press or sit or whatever. It was this that ultimately led to Hughes' recent unemployment. Because he failed to adapt. When it worked, the false nine was something to behold and we were tearing teams apart with it because of the "movement" of the front three (Arnie, Bojan n Shaq). Notice how I've highlighted the word movement there. It's an essential part of any team who wants to create chances leading to scoring goals. We lost that movement under Hughes 18 months ago thus we became embarrassingly easy to defend against. Btw the best prem team we had was in my opinion the 6-1 drubbing we gave Liverpool

The 2-1 at home to arsenal first season. Two very ugly goals and one of the catalysts of the rivalry between the two. Toure getting bullied by Fuller, Oli tripping over in the are and the ball bouncing off his face and chest into the net, RVP getting sent off. Great game

There was a lot of brilliant performances under Hughes the problem was that they were all over 2 years ago Absolutely, before the spine of the team was removed. There have been good performances since then but less and less frequently.
