I'm sure you think it makes sense. You seem to be back to Pulis mentality as though Hughes first 2 and a half seasons never happened. Attacking football is more productive defensive football is for those who are too scared to try. I'm not saying that at all. I want attacking football but when attacking isn't happening you need something to fall back on which is being able to defend. Something we can't do very well at the moment but a trait that would put us in better position right now than all out attack. Which is something else we are struggling to do well. We're struggling to anything well at the moment but that's because we are trying to be all out defensive by playing 9 behind the ball (badly). We'd be far better off trying to play in a more balanced way and get on the front foot more. Our defenders are riddled with mistakes, sitting back and exposing them to concerted pressure is only exacerbating their fragility, yet over and over again we do the same thing and hope for a different outcome. Its another copy cat routine like the 3 at the back adopted without proper contemplation our squad is not suited to having less possession, sitting back and playing on the break anymore than it is to playing a wing back system without any wing backs.

Need to be able to pass and move in order to keep possession and fit enough to get it back. We seem lacking in all these departments.
Lack of fitness is absolutely unforgivable given the amount of money coaches and players are on
