Did anyone else see the slanging match between one of the backroom staff boys and the Stoke fan ? . They started arguing just before half time and carried it on into the second half. The backroom staff lad was very angry and stood up pointed at him and told him to words of the effect " shut the **** up you fat prick " . I think the Stoke fan was led away and spoken to by one of the stewards but was allowed to return to his seat a little later. Nothing was said to the member of the backroom staff and quite a few of the other staff on the row ( behing the home dugout )thought it was amusing. Not saying who was right or wrong , tempers are boiling over at the moment but i think the member of staff in question shouldnt have got involved and kept his mouth shut.

Whoever the staff member was, he should be sacked instantly, as he was acting in the course of his employment.

Didnt know it was Mark Bowens son. Too big for his boots by the sounds of it. Like i say , tempers are boiling over at the moment and i think the Stoke fan was having a pop at one of the players walking off at ht. He got involved and then it carried over to when they came back out second half.

My seat used to be right by the bench. Under Pulis it was ridiculous at times. They were actively ear-wigging fans for dissent for a few games when we had a bad run then a security guy, who seemed orate to be fair, was regularly positioned behind the bench. And by dissent I include such scandalous abuse as substitution recommendations and "this isn't good enough Tony".

So if paying customer shouts vile abusive degrading remarks about you and your family (which i believe is against the law) you would not respond? i was not in a position to see the incident were you? By the way what industry do you work in?

Yeah the guy sits 1 row back and 5 seats along from me, it was quite amusing. The original post was spot on that's exactly what happened! Just a sign of the level of frustration on both sides of the same team I guess!

I recall that during the Leicester game last season, at the point when we were 2-0 up but Leicester were dominating play, there was a staff member in roughly the same place who really had a go at the supporters for daring to suggest that some subs would freshen things up. It got quite heated at one point, and he didn't come back for a while. I don't know if anybody else on here will recall that?
When I saw the incident on Saturday, it did cross my mind that it might be the same person.

What is the role of Mark Bowen's son at the football club? I get all the comedy answers but it's a serious question, I'm trying to understand if he is an adult on the club pay role and also roughly how senior he is. Or perhaps he is simply a spotty school boy who rocks up on a voluntary basis on a Saturday in lieu of loafing around in the house because his dad says it's good work experience and it keeps him out of mischief. It matters in the sense of assessing this alleged incident.

He had a Stoke city track suit on, and sat with the rest of the entourage behind the dug out..

So if paying customer shouts vile abusive degrading remarks about you and your family (which i believe is against the law) you would not respond? i was not in a position to see the incident were you? By the way what industry do you work in? To be fair Skem, I would respond. But the OP didn't mention any of this. The only facts were that there was an argument, (fair enough as these can happen if there is a difference of opinion - not good for anyone but not sackable) Then the only other facts to hand from the OP were that the staff member appeared to mouth words to the effect of 'you fucking fat prick' ( I am going off memory as I am typing this and not on the main thread) I believe you then asked for what reason should this member of staff get the sack, and my observation is from 20 years in business development and customer service in the health industry, that if I let my language reduce to this level, then I would be out the door quick smart. Not arguing mate, just can't have a member of staff calling a customer this despite any level of anger by a customer. Fine if between two equal parties but not if it's a member of staff throwing this language out.
