While I understand the fans' frustration, which I certainly share, at this point in time I refuse to continue to point my lat the blame on Hughes.
Even a blind man can see that Hughes has completely lost the plot, that the team is a shambles, that we are extremely weak in all departments and that we are sleepwalking ourselves towards the championship.
So in reality there is only one person to blame, that is the person who is pig-headedly insisting on keeping the clueless clown in charge. And that man is Peter Coates.
At the end of the day the buck stops with him, not Hughes.
I am sure that if Bet365 was being administered as catastrophically as The Stoke team is, he would have changed things long ago. But not with Stoke City FC. Why ?

Coates has been negligent keeping Hughes after last summer, and Scholes, Carto etc havecall presided over the creation of this fiasco. Sacking Hughes won't solve all the problems but getting the right replacement in (BIG IF) would go some way towards it.

The point is that if we voice our displeasure at Hughes and the awful job he is doing (not forgetting how good a job he did 2 years ago), we are giving Coates as clear a sign as possible that almost everyone wants him to replace Hughes as we know we’ll be relegated.
I am getting annnoyed at Coates as it is either a lack of bollocks ( being scared of the unknown), or being extremely cheap (knowing he will have to pay off Hughes and then bring in another manager who will cost more as Hughes is on a relatively cheap contract for a top flight manager).
Either way he’s taking a pretty huge gamble but he must see that shocking odds that would seem to be on Hughes turning this shower around.

Money is only a part of the problem. Hughes has spent money on players that he doesn't use or aren't at the club! Hughes picks the team and tactics. Hughes chooses who to bring on and take off during a match, and when. Hughes does the post match interview and gives us his view of what he saw on the pitch, which is usually total bollocks. HUGHES is the biggest problem we have at the club.

If we want to go down that route then question how the club is run completely. Is it actually Coates or is it the family in the background, along with the rest of the board?
I was under the impression that Coates was just the front figurehead of the business in the background and he only has a vote along with the rest?
Does he have the overriding say on all matters as Chairman, or is it very much a democracy?
That's the real issue if you are looking to blame and scapegoat - nobody knows looking from out to in.

Coates made a big mistake not replacing him in the summer. Those of us without blinkers on could see the issues last season.
No the candidates out there aren't great. But Hughes has shown himself to be so clueless tactically it is embarrassing

Yes Hughes does all those things you highlight but it is Peter Coates apparently reverting to type which has a) partially caused Hughes crisis ie consitent lack of proper investment in the playing side b) his failure to get rid of Hughes in the summer because he's relatively cheap and prepared to put up with a lack of investment wheras a replacement (upgrade) wouldn't, or so you would think. If Peter Coates was prepared to spend money Hughes wouldn't be here now or if he was we'd be higher up the league. Hughes is taking all the shit, some of it fair enough, but Peter Coates could have sorted this ages ago and hasn't. That's fair enough, it's his money, but he's proper hanging Hughes out to dry and fucking up all his previous good work in the process.

I think the owners have looked at this situation we are in and are preparing for the drop - as cheaply as possible, with a hope of clearing the shelves and restocking in the summer - 'SCFC reopening under new management'

I don't believe for one second the owners of the club are "preparing for the drop" I think they are trying to do what is right by the club and stick to their stability is best model.
If they leave it any longer however it is mis-management not only from our departing manager (surely soon) but from the board as well.
Get it sorted!

If we lose against West Ham and West Brom and he is kept on it will indicate the direction and thinking of the owners.

Hindsight - the friend of the powerless.
The board don't have a crystal ball. Silva could have flopped like so many new-to-the-prem managers before him.
Coates has done wonders for the city of stoke on trent, and continues to do so. If you are going on a witch hunt then I'm out.

by all accounts over the summer Denise (the driving force behind 365) wanted to move forwards with the club and move hughes on and invest a significant sum in the squad
this was vetoed by Peter & John for some unknown reason now we are seeing the results of this decision
ut severis seges, as you sow, so shall you reap, coates needs a loud message on Saturday that he must change or step aside for a less blinkered old fool

Said for a while that the club has far more problems than Hughes- though it's clear as day his time is up (and has been for quite some time). The owners have allowed the club to be run like a fucking clown show for far too long.

The owners are paralysed - they can’t see past Pulis now and they know the baggage and humble-pie that’s involved.
The failure to plan, identify and time managerial succession has killed them.

Coates has worked wonders with this club but I do wonder what he’s playing at lately.
It’s not just the manager I wonder about. The Scholes / Cartwright combo seem to me to be rather complacent in their positions. Deals not being done, no sell on clause with Nzonzi and I’ll never forget the time he went on holiday... in the transfer window !!
There seems to be an air of apathy around the club at the moment. It’s like having an old car that’s dodgy to start and generally runs poorly. You either fix it or cut your losses and get a newer one. Coates just seems to turn the key with Stoke and hope for the best instead of dealing with it.
A managerial change may help but there’s more to it for me. The club needs a good sweeping from top to bottom. Sadly it seems only the supporters realise this and they are the only ones who suffer. Nobody else at the club cares anymore.

Every season a so called stable premier league club implodes and gets relegated, through a series of poor decisions from the top of the club down over a few seasons, Fulham, hull, villa, Sunderland,
This year it's our turn, only thing left is a to late decision to sack the manager and replace with a no hope cheap option ala Dowie or some other Muppet prepared to take the cash for 6 months work.
It's been a great ride but it stinks of relegation now.
A big fee for butland, shaqiri and Allen, and the summer sales will be open.
