Richie Porte, Bardet, Roglic, Pinot, Kruijswijk, Zakarin. Adam Yates are all likely starters in the TDF. Landa might do both but would possibly not be as strong after the Giro, same as Dumoulin.

Knew I'd missed someone, not that many though! I have my doubts about the ability of a lot of those names to challenge Froome (even Thomas I don't think will be able to beat him without the Giro in his legs), but you're right there's enough to make it a decent race.

Supporting Froome and Thomas is increasingly making me feel like a glory hunter. IneosI know what you mean - up to a point. I will still support them as it remains ostensibly a "British" team and we were absolute no-hopers for long enough. Whilst Sky/Ineos are dominant I'm going to make the most of it. I'd like to think if FFP rules or an NFL style cap were to be introduced the team would remain dominant for a period whilst other teams played catch up on and off the bike. It's partly a question of priorities IMO, Quickstep (with Omega-Pharma, just Omega, Deceuninck, etc) have different targets and are extremely successful in one day races, whereas Sky target the Grand Tours. Goooaaarrrrnnnn Team Sky/Ineos !!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the issue to sort first.

Volta a Catalunya Has been pretty darn good so far. Highlights of stages 3 and 4 well worth a watch, some good head to head climbing battles with Quintana, Lopez, Bernal, Adam Yates and a few others.

I've not seen stage 4 yet but Adam Yates had a superb win on stage 3.
Good to see Egan Bernal doing so well. I see my most disliked rider Quintana (can't stand him) was up to his usual tricks again and not really taking his turn on the front of the group unless he was forced to. I was really pleased to see him beaten by the others yesterday and he didn't get a time bonus at the finish either.

Yes good weekend of cycling !
Just seen stage 4 of the Volta Catalunya - impressive ride by Lopez. All the main contenders quite close with "nearly man" Quintana (spits) once again coming up short.

After several of the early season classics already it was Paris-Roubaix today.
Half a dozen finally got away including last year's winner Peter Sagan but after nearly 6 hours abpndnd 55 kms of cobbles he faded near the end to eventually leave Nils Politt of Katusha and Philippe Gilbert of Decueninck Quickstep to battle it out in the velodrome at Roubaix.
After a final sprint for the line Phil Gil won and claimed his 5th Monument title. He only needs Milan-San Remo now for the full set of all 5 Monuments.

So goodbye to Team Sky and hello to Team Ineos.
Different name but they're still getting the same negativity from every angle in the media and from the cycling fans.
Tour de Yorkshire starts today - really looking forward to it, but anti Team Ineos protests are sadly expected.
The new Team Ineos kit is predominantly black with red (officially crimson). It looks very similar to this year's Sky kit but with the red replacing the blue bits.
Whether they're popular with the media or fans or not I'll definitely be supporting them !

Team Ineos' Egan Bernal broke his collarbone in a training crash ahead of the Giro. Bernal was due to be the team leader at the race.
Not a good start for Team Ineos but they are now planning to slot him into the TDF team instead.
The team win the Tour de Yorkshire on their debut event with Chris Lawless winning the G.C.

Yep, start this weekend. I'm on hols in Lake Maggiore (well not IN the Lake ), but unfortunately the Giro doesn't come up this way till after we get home.
Ineos are sending a very young team this year - I think it be a "learning curve" for some of the team - looks like they're keeping all the "big guns" for the TDF

Mountains at last in the Giro! Getting interesting with Nibali and Roglic playing tactical games while other GC guys gain time on them. Hopefully that continues tomorrow and the GC closes right up. Think Roglic is playing a very smart at game considering he has no climbers of any note to help him.
Yates' form has gone walkies.

Bad news for Froome. Out for the rest of the year. Hit a wall at 60kph and broken a femur. Brailsford calling it a "serious accident".

It could well be the end for Froomey as a real top rider if the injury is as serious as Dave Brailsford says, but I really hope he can recover from this and come back at his peak, although he's getting older as well.
It's not really going at all well for Ineos since their change from Sky. They were pretty non-existent at the Giro following Bernal's broken collar bone, and they also sent a young and relatively inexperienced team so they didn't really achieve much (if anything) throughout the race.
I suppose their TDF focus will be on G now, but there are some really in form riders from other teams who could well be in with a real chance of victory now Froomey's out.
I know that it's only cosmetic, but I also think their new kit is very anonymous and just doesn't stand out at all like any of the other teams. It's hard to see them in the peloton

Latest reports say Chris Froome has fractured a femur, an elbow, and several ribs. He apparently took his hands off the handlebars to blow his nose, and lost his front wheel due to a strong gust of wind. He was doing around 60 kph at the time.
