Here's a player that might fit the bill, initially on a loan deal. Despite his early success at the club, he has since struggled to find his form at Liverpool. He has managed just 3 goals in 13 league games for them, bringing into question his future at the club. The fans are reportedly less than impressed with his performances as of late, especially as it seems Benitez prefers Voronin as his third choice striker, ahead of fan favourite Peter Crouch. He's going nowhere at Liverpool. In January this year, Voronin injured his ankle during training. He went in for surgery and was expected to stay off of the field for about six weeks. He needs match practice to get his fitness and regular appearances up. Only 15 appearances this season for Liverpool and unlikely to break into the first team. He's on a four year deal but signed on a free transfer. Hard worker and played for Ukraine. He's probably looking to move to Germany, by all accounts, but is certainly the type of player that could make a difference for Stoke.

I would have him on loan, could we afford his wages? Would liverpool contribute.

I totally agree with you on this one. I have thought for a couple of weeks that he may well be obtainable (not a huge hit at Liverpool) and would fit the bill perfectly.
As you say though, it would appear he would prefer a move to Germany

Maybe not, if this report is correctI'm sure Liverpool will contribute to get his profile up, increase his value and sell him on to recover some of their money. But if he describes Britain is a cultural backwater and the locals have peculiar accents, he'd be stuffed in Stoke!

Well out of our reach I'm afraid - too high profile, too high wages. Would be an outstanding signing for any Premiership side, but I can't see him staying in England.
No chance.

But he's got to get match fit and needs somewhere to play. Wages? How much looking at his track record and they signed him on a free? Go to be worth a shout, surely.

A 28-year-old, World Cup Quarter-Finalist, highly rated in Germany and Ukraine especially. Doesn't really sound like the kind of player newly promoted sides sign.
If he wants another shot at Liverpool we might be able to get him on a loan deal while he gets fit, but we won't be top the list of prospective clubs.
He is a top player and I would love this signing to come off (especially me being half-Ukranian!), but I don't think it's likely.

Always looked a tidy player that is bound to attract criticism due to his inability to finish.
If, at the moment, we are working on the premiss that we are only buying players that are better than what we've got than I'd say sign him up.

He hates living in England. Always going on about how much better it was in Germany.
Somebody should tell him that pony tails are out of fashion over here, even in Stoke.
Don't think he would be much use in the dressing room concerning team moral and things.

I still find it hard to read that we could even stand a chance of signing such players? I dont think he'd be interested in us even if Pulis wanted him?
