Not sure if this has been posted before but we need a focal point up front with pace and strength. I think Danny Ings in January would be an excellent addition. Depends on his fitness but I always rated him. Thoughts?

Just the dependable sort we need injury wise.

Yeah, he's played loads of football over the last 18 months and wouldn't be any sort of risk or desperate move.

Can we actually sign a player who is remotely fit and match sharp?

Could be worth a punt as a loan signing but would be a risky purchase.

I'm all for this, lets play him as a midfielder as well.

When will we go shopping and not keep looking in the bruised and out of date section ! Maybe we should be gambling more on top championship players ? Not much needed to step up on and at least they'll be fit and healthy 😁😁😁

I do think at times under the current management team we have strived too hard to get those illusive 'next level' signings and it has resulted in us either accepting next level players who are in some way mentally or physically flawed or at other times not signing anyone at all where we urgently needed 'ready-to-start' reinforcements. There is nothing wrong with a good job-in-hand journey man or two.

Like I said in the OP if he was fit after his injuries I think he would do great for us. Reminds me of a fast Johnny Walters! Dependable. Apart from Crouch we don’t have any strikers who really occupy and worry defenders. Ings would do that IMO. Anyway, we will see what January brings. But WE NEED A STRIKER!

I think that we need a strong physical battler up top to hold up the play, shrug off a defender and find the net from set pieces. Trouble is who would do that? Slimani? Deeney? Giroud? Adrian Ramos? Benteke? Carroll?
I think there’s a few names there (how unlikely/unrealistic I have no idea I’ll admit) but I think short term we need to buy a proven RB and move diouf up there. Always gives 100% and at the moment is on course to be our top scorer.

Hes been done no favours at Palace, where hes often left isolated up top without support. Question is, do we have the players around him to bring the best out of him?

Who is going to 1) cross the ball or 2) play an incisive pass? Harry Kane would struggle to score 10 at Stoke.

He was subbed off about half an hour into his return for the reserves.... and he looked about 2 stone overweight.
Sign him up Sparky.

What do we do with Berra? Cut our losses or persevere? I'm hopeing he comes good but he is s concern. The current formation isn't working so let's change it and play two up top. Can't be any worse can it????

Ings. ."strength".....really? Get the straws out there's a clutcher about. Perhaps he can be part of the Butland deal??

Why not just sign someone from the championship that's in form, surely that's the way forward

No thank you. Very decent for Burnley - basically matched SJW for workrate and Fuller for finishing ability, but a sick-note ever since.

It started with all those head injuries he got against us playing for Burnley. He got one every time we looked to be gaining momentum.
