Rumour at lunch on BBC was July election Bring it on. If Sunak thinks July is his best chance to go to the country his advisors must feel things are only going to get worse! I think most tory ministers would much prefer a labour or conservative majority over any other possible government. If this secures a labour majority rather than a minority labour government then I think he'd be happy.

An election is 100% being called. Carol Vorderman just made a rare tweet about Palestine. So that's it confirmed.
Labours #1 public grifter climbing out from under her rock to give Palestine a rare mention means election is being called.
Must be a late attempt to pretend she suddenly cares about genocide and to try and win anti genocide voters over.

Agreed - inflation about as low as it will get, pay increases likely to fall back in the coming months as the lagging effect wears off, more crap to come from post-Brexit changes in the Autumn, maybe a symbolic flight or two to Rwanda before the election before those thick enough to think it will work realise it's failed to stop the boats, holes in the public finances they can't hide in the Autumn statement.

Today's drop in inflation is likely to be the last significant drop. It is based on inflation to April and was expected to be a bigger drop. There was a big drop in inflation last July so when next July's figures come out it is likely to show a rise in inflation as last July's drop falls out of the 12 month figure. Plus the increases in last April's taxes and pensions, benefits, etc will be working through during the summer so best to go to the polls sooner rather than later when inflation starts to climb again.
Plus it would be the the Tory advantage to go in the summer school holidays when many young families are on holiday.
Just speculation on my part.

Not to disagree old chap but kids are still in school on the rumoured date of 4th July - they dont break up for hols until around 21st July I would imagine he has had indicators of more bad news coming - defections, votes of no confidence, more bad PR (water, blood, health, anything else they have touched) and thought 'fuck it, I can be packed up and living in my $12m dollar house in California by August hols'

I'm going to see the National at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on July 4th and then hopefully it will be an England win in the quarter finals with Joe in Oz on the 5th, could be an absolutely cracking 48 hours! 🤞

This relates to the "Axis of Authoritarian States" which Rishi was warning about recently. Citizens should prepare now for the apocalypse, fortunately Rishi is the man that can save us but Keir doesn't have a plan #votetory
