It all depends on how much money it saves in the long run, a bit up front to save more in the long term. How often are flight to Rwanda from the UK, did it save on hotel bills for the amount of people on the plan, albeit they would have to be very expensive hotels Hopefully the BBC chipped in as well They could have emailed the documents and signed and use the money saved to employ multiple case workers to work on the asylum backlog.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not.
Assuming that you are, how does spending £165k over £5k on a flight to Rwanda save any more money in the long term?

Here we go. Now this could genuinely be one Reform stand a chance in. The most Brexit town in the UK and one which doesn't have much tolerance towards much of what the current Tory and Labour parties stand for. Big ask but if nothing else it could be a good opportunity to build a foundation for Reform to take the seat in the general election. Do we know why he resigned?

He was going to have to face a by election anyway as a result of the cash for questions sting he was caught in, he would almost have e certainly lost. It would appear that he's jumped before he was pushed (by the electorate) to save himself further embarrassment. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see Oggy's post. 🫢

Agree I think it has potential to be a really interesting by election. Defo potential for Reform there. Think reform, workers party or green could all gain votes at lab/con expense. Something to do with lobbying i think. Basically offering investigative journalists political favours for money.

Just when trust and confidence in politicians is at an all time low, the Tories post a disgraceful attack video supporting their candidate for London Mayor. The video is so obviously bollocks, black and white footage from the New York subway was shown as being from the London underground, that it had to be taken down and edited to remove the New York shots. Could this be a typically gammon-fisted Tory attempt to discredit all politicians as being untrustworthy, they are all the same, none of them are worth voting for?

Indeed mate, it seems to be a worryingly, increasing trend but be very careful, apparently we aren't allowed to discuss institutions attempting to gaslight the public on here.

It is incredible how much the Tory mayoral candidate hates London. I think the Tories know they will lose and are doing this to try and gain general support for the party from those who don’t live in London and viewers of GB News, which seems to be the new Tory target voter. Everyone against the capital elite. It is remarkably anti-Britain and unpatriotic to be so against your capital city. It may work if you judge by the ignorant comments from those on the London thread by people who don’t live in London or visit it frequently. I would regulate elections so that candidates are disqualified when they tell outright lies such as this campaign. There is no excuse not to fact check what you are putting out.

There is a difference between a misleading statement and an outright lie. Very few politicians tell outright lies whereas misleading statements are every word that cones out of their mouths. But posting footage of New York gun crime and saying London is now the crime capital in of the world is lying. Unquestionably.

Politicians don’t even expect people to trust them anymore. If they aren’t misleading you, they just deflect. I do wish that more courageous people would enter politics and just talk sense.

In an ideal world I agree. But anything can be shown to mislead. As a lawyer who deals with litigation, a sad part of my job is persuading a judge that what seems like a fact has a hint of being misleading to sow seeds of doubt. Almost anything can be argued to be misleading. Two sides (and more) to every story. Proving an outright lie is exceptionally difficult, which is why it was so hard to pin the lying master, Boris Johnson, with anything until he went too far.

Arntall tories narcissistic fragrant pricks No mate and never let anyone tell you they are a prick based on who they vote for. In the same way not everyone who voted for Corbyn, remain or the Greens is a prick. Id happily place a bet that if you got everyone on this thread around a table for pints, most would get on great. I've got incredibly close friends I don't agree with politically but we'll take the piss out of each other on certain points and move on. We know what subjects to steer clear of, ie a bit of common sense. Which is why angry Angela and her "Tory thcum" comments were so irresponsible. Talk about inciting hatred.
