Ben is completely correct but it is not only Truss, or even politician's in general, it's the whole of society it seems and it's bloody scary ... There is a very serious argument and ground swell of research supporting the idea that democracy cannot survive in a world so utterly contaminated with no definitive truth. The Eloi are coming. Indeed Andy, this is a short extract from a very long Article by the French Philosopher Paul Valadier written 7 years ago which discusses this very subject. Well worth a read. Arguments like these clearly take us far from the deliberate lying we have been talking about: we are dealing instead with a derealizing conception of things, one that goes so far that lying loses all meaning. We can claim whatever we want, because it is impossible to check or to verify anything! Even the real thing has disappeared, because it only exists as something transmitted virtually. The virtual kills the real. www.cairn-int.info/article-E_ETU_4238_0055--danger-in-democracy-post-truth.htm

Gosh that takes me back As a teenager I remember getting hold of a bootleg LP copy of the Derek and Clive tapes which they recorded in NY. The most memorable of the sketches, "The Worst Job I Ever Had," Clive claimed he once nursed Jayne Mansfield through an affliction he called "lobstericimus bumbequissimus" - removing lobsters from Jayne's rectum. Of course I was only able to play the LP when my parents were out of the House

In the midst of it all, people forget the original question and spend time discussing the seven lies.

Discusting new policy from government on the sick questioning the integrity of GPS and sick notes trying to stop people being signed off The goal to move powers of medical decision making out of trained hands and into what will likely be hands of bureaucrats is just another step towards burning the NHS to the ground.

I doubt that she wrote a word of it. That someone as inept as Liz Truss has managed to become a PM and remain somewhat influential really highlights the pathetic standard of politicians nowadays.

More corruption and greed... Aitken’s father had his parliamentary career ended when he went to jail for perjury. Nice family.

To get this right, a Tory MP, a ‘confirmed bachelor’, gets rewarded for services to Brazilian rent boys by being made trade envoy to Colombia of all places! I refer you to the title of this thread.

Why is it suddenly Rishis idea? This idea was created by Rachel Reeves a month ago. Nearly as if the tories seen how unpopular it was so decided to pursue it themselves to help the red tories get a majority
