I'm not sure what it is but these days I don't 'follow' England in the same way as 15-20 years ago. I don't particularly like the players, it always seems to be 'names' over those in form. Is it the years of the same old shite? The continual media hype of average players? I thought Southgate might be a good solid appointment but his picking of Hart over Pickford and more so Butland is just baffling, and put me right off watching. No doubt I'll be back watching at the World Cup and get involved with the hype and the 'tournament' fans and the cheap Tesco England merchandise. Assuming we get there? Oh we scored and Southgate looks bemused!  |

It shouldn't come as any kind of surprise though should it.
We've got a manager who's got no managerial pedigree other than being relegated at Middlesborough and then spoon fed a good crop of u 21's.
He picks
Hart who is hideously out of form
Walker who can run very fast but simply isn't a footballer
Cahill. Meh. He plays for Chelsea
Jones currently in form but has in the recent past been a laughing stock
Bertrand, who? What? Simply a nonentity
Chamberlain (see Walker and some)
Henderson can't run very fast and for the rest see Chamberlain and Walker
Dier was good is hideously out of form (scoring doesn't alter that assessment)
Rashford a quality forward with great prospects hung out to dry on the wing.
Alli excellent for Tottingham where he has quality players such as Eriksen picking the passes for him to run on to but is clearly not as good as he thinks he is when he has to do all the work himself. Lazy bastard.
Kane Quality finisher but feeding off scraps from the lack of midfield creativity.
Hoddle utterly shit co-commentator.

Fair enough we've scored and it was a nice finish but the majority of this game has been utterly embarrassing.
Walker, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, all awful.
Dele Alli is seriously infuriating, he's got loads of ability but doesn't half make bad decisions.

It sounds like a grumpy old fart thing to say but I think old sloppy chops would have been a good England manager. The FA have kept it in house for years, they never had the balls to give it to Clough many moons ago. |
