Hughes was emotional you can tell in his Stoke City+ interview towards the end and the BBC interview.
Means alot to him, delighted for everyone.

I actually enjoyed today more than any game from last season. The atmosphere was better than its been for ages. We look much more solid than last season and with a couple of decent signings we could have a good season. Much more optimistic after today.

In terms of highlights last season was by far our worst in the Prem and I'll be the first to admit I was very much anticipating a similar snorefest this season, yesterday was better than last season in its entirety.

Said myself first game I've enjoyed since the Liverpool away cup game. I was one at the end of last season wishing Hughes would go.A few more displays like that and I'd definatly let him stay.π

Hughes is very bullish at the moment - he's been stung and he doesn't like it. Bodes well for our season, hopefully!

I enjoyed the victory though I was on tenterhooks as I walked to work listening to the game fearing the 3 points would slip away . We held on and it was a magnificent team performance. And I agree it was a game which showed application, grit and skill. I have been supporting Stoke since the 60s and am aware being a Stoke fan is like riding a roller coaster. Enjoy the moment and hope there will be more like it in the months to come

Hughes was emotional you can tell in his Stoke City+ interview towards the end and the BBC interview. Means alot to him, delighted for everyone. I thought that too. I liked his interview in one of the papers before the game - seemed an extra determination; and that really showed again yesterday. Lets hope it gives us some good momentum... > quite a clear-out over the summer; > some steady and potentially spectacular signings (even if its just for a year - you never know what might happen after); > refreshed stadium with the new corner, mostly new seats; > debutant goal for Jese; > great atmosphere and quick vengeance for the twatting Arsenal handed to us at home at the end of last season. It would just be nice if after every result, at least for a couple of months, we didn't have the same old "where are the boo-boys"/"where are the happyclappers" and could enjoy the victories, have a bit of a grump about the losses, and sensibly discuss the positives & negatives

Well done Mark. The bar gets higher though! We want to win at the Emirates Hawthornes next. Sorted that out for you I did actually mean winning at the Emirates, to rub it in. There was a stream recently on our 5-0 victory over them. One of my greatest memories is going to Highbury in the early 70s and seeing John Ritchie score the only goal. The place was like a mausoleum. As for the Hawthorns, unfortunately I think Pulis has the "Indian sign" on us/Hughes as we do on Arsenal/Wenger, so I'm not expecting much of a result. It will take time for the new players to gel together, whereas Pulis will have his players fully drilled and prepared to turn us over. I have fond memories of the Hawthorns, though; apart from being a successful hunting ground for Stoke in the past, I used to go regularly in the 60s when I lived in Birmingham to see England's second best striker, after Greaves, Geoff Astle. Unfortunately for Geoff, he was the type of player Ramsay didn't go for.

I honestly think I'd be more chuffed to win there than the emirates. I didn't like him still don't and it stings a bit extra every time he puts one over us.
