Apparently the Russian press say it a film about British cowardice. He who fights & runs away, lives to fight another day... This would be the same Russians who signed a pact with Adolf and his cronies ,arseholes ,British cowards who ran supplies to Archangel .

I've not seen the film but when I do it'll only be in an IMAX theatre. It's supposedly a far more visceral and highly immersive experience when viewed in the full 70mm format according to most of the reviews i've skimmed. "Like VR without the headset" according to Christopher Nolan. 70% of the movie was shot with the IMAX camera, which is a real technical achievement. I honestly wouldn't want to see the film any other way, not even in the standard 35mm movie format.

Like production in music, may make it sound like a better song, it still doesn't make it a better written track. I'm no film buff but I know shit when I see it.

Almost every review for Dunkirk has been 5/5 mate. It's at 94% on Metacritic. But I haven't seen it so i'll have to take your word for it.

Which makes me wonder how much magazines might get paid to give a good review. Giving it 5/5 should sit it pretty next to some of the great movies that have been made. It doesn't sit anywhere near them. See for yourself and see I'm not lying.

I think my point is that the film is not supposed to be suitable for small screen viewing, it's an IMAX flick, but I haven't seen it so what do I know?

Not really. Script is terrible, characters are forgettable, the action is predictable and the magnitude of the event is never caught. Another film that needs hype to sell it because it knew it was shit in the first place. The public will lap it up unfortunately. It's wank.

Now that's put me right off I watched the original years ago and didn't enjoy it one bit Well the ending doesn't change I thought the older one showed more of the chaos of actually what was going on around Dunkirk and getting there and of course didn't have Harry fucking Styles in it Anyway game of thrones tonight hopefully Ayra kills Ed Sheeran The original was very good , but it's neatly 60 years ago ....that film was a typical film of the time ( starring John Mills the king of the British war film ) it was very different this film shows it a little more graphically .....it's good to see that the new film really puts the RAF's contribution into perspective .....the troops on the beaches used to ask where is the Air Force ? ..they didnt see much of them because they were intercepting the German aircraft miles inland from the beaches ....they enabled the evacuation to take place ....if those aircraft had got through it would have been carnage on the beaches .....the RAF were the unsung heroes of Dunkirk

It doesn't seem like we can agree on fucking anything these days And I haven't seen it but I think it will be ace in IMAX. I can't imagine watching a pirated copy on a grubby little smartphone with a 2mm speaker quite capturing the gravitas and the terror of 400,000 men trapped on a beach being straffed by the Luftwaffel. Stick to playing Snake ffs.
