Gary Lineker is calling it his 'tin hat' day :-)
I predict when the scores on the doors come in there will be faux outrage for 2 reasons:
1.That only one third of the names are women. In reality I'd hazard a guess that while it isn't great its better than most/all organisations 2.Folks will balk at the size of some of the salaries but in fact it will be more of a poachers charter since many could earn considerably more in the private sector.

They would all get more if they went to a different network so I don't see why this is news.

Looking beyond all the who gets paid what bitching they will now ensue.
The motive for all this is the Govt's campaign to destabilise and undermine the BBC. I find that more disturbing. This information is there to serve their competitors and primarily Murdoch and further strengthens his position.
I don't want to know or give a shit how much they get paid.

They get paid far less for the same job on a different network. The BBC is absolutely essential and prevents the likes of Murdoch further controlling the population.

Steve Wright £550,000 for doing exactly the same show he was doing 30 years ago, wonder how much the old woman and the rest of his sycophantic entourage get !

Agreed, the Murdoch press and the other foreign owned corporates will jump all over this as it is and wind people up in to a frenzy for no good reason, conspicuously without sharing what they pay their own big hitters. Well you can see it is already happening on this thread with plenty more to come. There is only the BBC between us and being left without any semblance of balanced reporting or anything akin to any culture at all on TV. It would be a very sad day.

Shearers wage of 450k is much more reasonable when Louise Minchin doesnt even earn £150k a year for getting up at 4Am and presenting a 3 hour morning show for 4 days a week? I think Shearer's pay is fooking obscene for what he does, I would have thought something like £2k for one MOTD was more than enough

There was a point being made by Nicky Campbell this morning that he was aware of at least one independent network executive who was welcoming this news as a stick to beat down his overpaid stars.

I'll be interested to see how much that Claudia Winkleman is paid... Half a Million for her. She has no great insight, never made me laugh. Balding works like a b@$t@&d, but gets less than half what Winkleman. PS I don't like Balding either, but she knows some $#!t & puts a shift in

Yes, the private networks would love it, but the world would be a far poorer place without the BBC in my opinion. People I meet who come over from the USA and elsewhere in Europe just can't believe how wonderful it is compared to the dire programming and agenda ridden reporting they are forced to suffer. 'They paved paradise and put up a parking lot' as someone once said!

Balding doesn't do much for the BBC anymore does she? Not on a consistent basis anyway.

Could just be that Winkleman is on an exclusivity clause that only allows her to appear on the Beeb, hence the bumped up paycheck.

This is all driven by Murdoch
The guy is running the country. Gove is now only in the Cabinet because of Murdoch's insistence, that is now evident. For May it was either Murdoch's puppet or P45. That's how much power he has.
This is all over the Sun today of course

Apart from £450K on Alan fucking Shearer. I detest pundits, but particularly talentless meatheads like Shearer trading on a successful sports career, I really do. I also think that Danny Murphy is by far and away the no.1 football pundit on anyones TV.

You seriously suggesting Murdoch's influence on Government and attempts to undermine public services is as recent as that? Its been going on since Thatcher. I'm not saying that the policy of disclosure is necessarily wrong, though its a really stupid policy and one that is ultimately only serves competitors. It is the motive behind it that is wrong.
